I just got an assesment from ALPA for $55 to cover furloughee medical.

I have been furloughed for over two years and never signed up to receive those benefits, so i'm not sure why i'm being charged.

Anybody have any idea how to get this deleted without going into bad-standing?

nevermind

I called ALPA.

They say it went down like this. The $55 assesment is for February of 2002. I was furloughed at the END of that month.

Once I was furloughed and no longer "officially" a member of the association they shelved that assesment.

Now that i'm an active member again (with a different carrier), "POOF" the assesment came back and is, once again, due.

So i'm basically paying for furloughee medical for the last month that I was a non-furloughee.

Wierd huh?
