Parker's made it known he doesn't like Mesa, and intends to dump them when the contract expires. However, if Mesa declares bankruptcy, USAirways gets to terminate their contract early- probably why JO wants to get the TA done ASAP. Quick T/A means better odds for securing outside financing to pay off that lil' 20 Mil debt they have coming due in Jan.

You forget that this world revolves on money. If J.O. can get the pilots to sign the TA then Mesa can undercut all other airlines. US Airways will have no choice to continue using Mesa. They will be by far the cheapest. And so again the race for the bottom is underway....

As far as I know, that's due in Feb '09. Don't forget the ongoing Aloha lawsuit as well.

Aloha, and Delta. Delta's appeal to the injuction is set for Jan 26th. The original injunction case took 3 days I think. So by the end of Jan. mesa may lose the ERJ delta flying again. If that happens they lose 20 million a month in revenue.

One of the main reasons they recieved the first injuction was because JO said he would have to declare bankruptcy if delta took the flying. The injunction served to keep both parties around to hear a final case.

Since then Mesa upper management has done a few highly illegal things. When delta asked for some e-mails one manager claimed his laptop was stolen and another fried his hard drive. Sound Familiar? I think the last guy was deleting porn in the Hawaiian case. Oh yeah thats it. What a crooked company.

What is most disturbing about this situation is that management is trying to do everything EXCEPT fixing the problem.

The two key issues are weak management and poor morale. Until those issues are addressed nothing will change. Sick calls and no shows are holding steady, performance is unacceptable and time is running out. There is no serious attempt at fixing any of it. It's like the clock is running out in the 4th quarter and you are out of time outs and you're down by 20.

The way I look at it Mesa will eventually lose the Delta flying even if they win the lawsuit, some bad blood happing right now. UA is not happy with Mesa and is giving some crj7 routes away. Airways I guess isn't too happy as well. Keeping pilots happy may not be managements top priority, since they very well might not need all of them come next year. Still it's early, it's going to be interesting to see what sorts of things JO is going to pull this time.

It's just a matter of time. I wouldn't put anything past JO. ANYTHING. But things are looking pretty bleak.
