Just got my $70 insurance rebate check in the mail. Two cars, one motorcycle, one toy hauler all for under a grand a year and a rebate to boot!! What a great company!!

Agreed. I just got a car insurance and renter's insurance policy through them. The car insurance was about 15% less than any other company was offering for a similar policy.

Also have a mastercard through them. Lower rates than I was able to get through any bank or credit union, no annual fee, and they give me cash back. Everything I charge and expense for work (not a frac guy, but I do a fair ammount of pilot service trips for the FBO I work for) gets put on that card and I profit from it. In the end I can look to make another 10-15% on top of my salary this year. Customer service is great too. Never on hold and their people are all english speaking americans.

Recommended by a friend, just wonder how many frac drivers bank with USAA.

I've been there 30 years. Good customer service, very good claims service, easy to communictae with, good payment plans, but you can get a better rate. I just got a letter informing me that I had to raise my auto and pleasrure boat liablity limits to keep my million dollar umbrella policy. After inquiring how much those rates would go up, my jaw fell. 500 dollars per year was the answer. You do get the subscribers savings account which has a balance of 6000 plus dollars and I just received my annual payout from that which was about 300 dollars. All an all a good company but like I said youcan find better rates.

39 years

39 years ago I was getting an ID card for my new wife. The Personnel Chief at VT-1, who was processing my paper work, asked if I was a USAA and NFCU member. I said "No", he said "You better join both they will never let this young lady down when you are overseas". He was a Chief, I was an Ensign so I took his advice and had never been disappointed. As stated above you may find better rates, but none I believe has better service USAA. So I pass along the Chief's advice, if you are a current or former service member E-4 or above or dependant, USAA is a good bet. Happy New Year to all

I'm a member of both USAA and NFCU also. I like the fact that USAA reimburses the atm fees you get charged when using other banks atms.

I don't believe USAA requires you to be affiliated with the military anymore to become a member of their bank, you do for their insurance, but not banking.

USAA and NFCU are great.

USAA reimburses up to $15 moth in ATM transaction fees, because they aren't a local bank. Also they provide postage free deposit envelopes. The downside is they aren't a local bank. But I've got DD, so it doesn't matter. Just got the dividend check too...

Good insurance and banking. Went with another company for home mortgage.

NFCU good for a ELOC.

Been a member since I was an E3. Banking, investments, and insurance. Rates beat everthing I've seen and I think Money magazine rated them #1 a couple of years ago.

They have never let me down.

I've been using USAA for over 20 years. I haven't found any cheaper Car or Homeowner's Insurance even with the 8% discount on Geico NJA Pilots get. No problems with service and I live in CLT which is not a military town. Unfortunately I've memorizied the bodyshop's phone number (my wife's car has an invisible bullseye painted on it I think). All I do is have the car dropped off over there, they do everything else.

Been with USAA since '80 and have always tried to go with them. Hell who else gives an insurance dividend check every year? Just applied for a home loan with them. Not the best rate but their closing costs are half what a local lender expected.

Only thing they couldnt beat was Progressives Motorcycle insurance.

Considering using them as my bank as well. Tired of Wasington Mutual hitting me with fees for atms that arent theirs.

USAA member here also....no complaints......do not bank with them since I prefer the ability to "walk-in" to a branch if need be (Wells Fargo, Bank of America, etc) but everything else has been top-notch

Same here, I use BOA because of local branches but all my insurance is with USAA. I do have their Mastercard. They gave me a really good deal on balance xfers a year or so ago. 1.9% APR until the balance is paid off. No xfer fees either. I got them to substantially raise my credit limit then moved everything I could over until I maxed out the new limit. You can't beat 1.9%, not even with tax deductible debt like a 2nd Mortgage.

gun guy the spurs did not do so well last visit to DTW

Mates,

I've been with USAA since 1971, it was USAA Casualty Insurance Company (CIC) that insured folks that were dependents then. Heck, my member i.d. number is only 5 digits and starts with a "1".

I bank with them, I insure my cars, my house and my general liability. I have an investment account there and have never had a cross word with them. Not a problem in, what, 34 years?

I don't fly for a FRAC, but if you can get into USAA ... do it. You'll never look back.

Usaa is great as a bank and insurance company. Horrible mortage company. Almost lost the house because of their lack of customer service. Was really surprised because I love the other parts of their company. Asked around and seven others have had similar situations with USAA mortage, be it buying or selling. NFCU meets or beats their rates and is much better. Not a peep against their bank or insurance.

I became eligible for USAA because of my dad's military service. When I signed on for my own policy they were more expensive at first (Sports Car and a SUV).

However, they ran the rates when I was to turn 25 and they beat everybody else. So, I stuck it out because I have heard such amazing things about USAA.

Now I am 26 and still won't switch. My SUV had it's paint chipped bad because of super high winds from a tornado (what killed the customs building in laredo) and it was like two years later after I filed the claim when I had the work done. No questions ask despite the considerable time that lapsed.

I also have their renters insurance and am very happy with that.

Also, anybody have any info on their flight department? Searching turned up nothing intresting.

I saw a G4 in ORF a few days ago that was theirs.

USAA is the only insurance company I have ever had. I also have my car loan, morgage, and life insurance through them. I used to be an auto adjuster for them, their is no one better if you get in an accident.

Everytime that an insurance salesman cold calls me I tell him that I have USAA. He always says "Oh and hangs up." No one can compete with them. Once I was playing golf on fathers day and I broke the windshield of the cart (don't ask how I always slice, never hook it). Any way I filed a claim with my renters insurance on Monday and had a check in my mailbox on Wednesday, what an awesome company!!!! Not to mention that I got four free rounds of golf at on of the nicest courses in Pensacola for being hinest and paying for their cart. The best part was that my rates didn't even go up.

One complaint here!!!

I've used USAA for 28 years for auto and homeowner's insurance.

When I retired, I asked what they had to replace SGLI. I also asked if they had a war clause and told them I was an airline pilot. The war clause wasn't a problem, but being a pilot was. I reminded them I wasn't the only USAA member who was retired military and was an airline pilot. That comment received a lame response and I told them I'd look elsewhere. I also put my observations in writing. I did receive a written response which basically said USAA had to protect their assets and that any type of commercial aviation activity was an unacceptable risk.

A neighbor, also retired military, helped me obtain a policy to replace SGLI with no war clause and they didn't hold flying against me. My annual premium, for a $250,000 policy, is $400. The premium is higher if you don't pay annually.

The company is First Penn Pacific Life Insurance Company. I looked at others, including AFBA. Dollar for dollar, First Penn Pacific has more complete coverage than any I found.

Fly safe!
