817AA I should clarify. All the Falcons but one have a GPS in them. Youre right only 4-5 are certified for enroute ops. With the others you have to ask for a "heading direct XYZ when able". And further, a captain has to have a GPS Enroute check out from a check airman... Point is, only one Falcon is a pain in a$$.

happy? :)

GPS in the works

As soon as all the DA-20's are RVSMed, TCASed, and TAWSed, they will be GPSed. At the present time all of our DA-20's have glass cockpits, just like the DC-3 and B-17, every dial have a glass lens covering the actual gauage.

Yeah right - I heard that the Falcons were getting GPSs for years - at first it was when they have a C-check, then it was when we aren't so busy, then we were weren't busy, it was we don't have the money. Fact is, the company doesn't see the need.

Why would the company spend money on TCAS and TWAS when it is not needed? Sounds unlikely that you'll see any cargo DA20 with that equipment.

Hey N817AA is parked! Its inop.. N826AA is the best plane at USA Jet.

Ride the Wind, yeah it was like that... I just happened to fly with one and he was like "Oh you havent gotten that yet? um. Yeah, that was your check out" It was a joke.

IaFlyer, yea the company doesnt see the need and neither do the pilots... as long as the thing is in there and works who really gives a dammn? Sure I'm using the VORs to navigate! Really I am! Come on man! you used to work here!

PilotYIP- "As soon as all the DA-20's are RVSMed, TCASed, and TAWSed, they will be GPSed."

It is kinda hard to detect humor without tonality and inflection isn't it Wiggums?

(P.S. the RVSM thing is actually happening! That wasn't a funny! I'm SERIOUS! no really! gah, forget it.)

xfr8dog what did I hear about you?

I here you made a 340 KT pass at 300' AGL by the YIP tower back in July. Any truth to that?

LIES!

The overspeed horn started to go off so it must have been more than 350.... at least for a few seconds!

Now what was this thread about? Oh yea, hiring!

Come on folks APPLY! I dont like flying in the right seat anymore.... we need more FO's!

I think the whole on-demand 135 industry is going to struggle to find pilots for now. USA Jet wants 750ME, Ameristar is looking for FOs with 2000TT and 1000ME. I would assume that most pilots with this kind of time already have a job flying with a decent company and when they hear about the type of flying, the schedule, and that they have to be based at Willow Run many will just say no. Sure, you won’t make as much money at the regionals, but you can get hired at 200ME and have a better schedule.

Lifestyle

If into lifestyle, you know all day time flying, no work besides closing the door and same routes day after day, do not apply at an on-demand cargo operation. However if want to develope those skills that many airlines are looking for, the ability to fly as a Captain, make decisions, keep the trip running safely and find a way to get the job done correctly, then on-demand is the place to go. You will get quality TJ PIC in a much shorter time than at a regional. If you want to fly as DC-9 Captain in 4 years, if you want a shot at any place that is hiring, then think again about the on-demand business. Many many successful Captain on this board got their start in the on-demand business. DO NOT SELL IT SHORT.

Hi!

R the Falcons (& -9s) really going to be TCAS'd and TAW'd? I didn't think they were-if it was said jokingly the RVSM thing threw me off.

I heard that 817 was coming back as it could be RVSM'd.

817

817 is never coming back, I saw 819 move, I saw the doors open on 820, something might be going on.

They have a 20 minute call out time, so if you figure getting awaken at 3am in the dead of sleep then having to be at the airplane in 20 minutes, you're restricted to pretty much Belleville/Ypsi. But it's not the worst place on earth to live, you just gotta pick a good spot. Whatever you do, avoid the Harbour Club, the leasing office is staffed with a bunch of clowns.....

That is why 11 days off per month

That is why the DA-20 guys need their 11 hard days off per month. It is a ruff life style, no doubt. The 11 days lets a pilot get away from that routine. And the 3 AM call out only happens a coulpe times a month average. It is the 2300 L call out that really sucks.

Hmmm, 20 mins. is not much time. I live in Royal Oak and the best I can do is about 40 mins. to Jet Center East. It would be hard to justify a move. Any chance they will need pilots bad enough that they would waive that time?

T-Gates, Let's see ATL? F-ed Delta pilot?
