Well, the guy that failed was really weak from what my buddy told me. HE was bypassed numerous times, due to weak performance online. Plus he was caught sitting on reserve in Puerto Rico. When they finally gave him a shot, he failed the first time and was given the option to go back to FO, but he tried again. The final blow was when he put 20 units of rudder trim in the wrong direction. They gave him a fair shot.
Upgrades going pretty quick, lots of furloughed USair and United. Currently they are ok to fly for if you live in base. 10 planes and getting acouple more this year. Work 10 days a month, with maybe 4-6 reserve days. Pay will need to be adjusted since they are loosing captains to JetBlue and they know that. Once they get a contract, they will hopefully be better off. Starting pay 46000 with no training contract. You do not have to resign your seniority either.
They pay for your hotel and per diem during training, plus 500 or so a week. They pay for your Uniform and you split a rental car as well. Bases NYC,PHL,PIT ORD,BWI,DTW and CLE. Opening bases in STL and RSW.
It seems not the best place , but not the worst either. New planes from the factory, paperless cockpit and growing. It seems they have growing pains.
Well that is all. I talk to my bud all the time and that is the latest. If I get furloughed 236 Numbers to me, I would contemplate them if they would have a base out west.
Cheers,
Marty
