WASHINGTON, Feb 16 (Reuters) - More mergers of U.S airlines are inevitable and essential for domestic carriers to compete globally, the new president of the largest pilots union said on Wednesday. Lee Moak of the Air Line Pilots Association told reporters that passenger airlines are still too vulnerable to fuel price spikes and other business conditions that threaten industry profitability. "I believe we need to be there sooner rather than later because we need to compete globally," he said. "How it will shake out remains to be seen." Moak also said that carriers must demonstrate sustained profitability for pilots to achieve gains at the bargaining table, signaling the union will be patient as it moves forward in contract talks at several carriers. However, Moak said it would be a mistake for airline management to misinterpret the labor group's position on what he called constructive engagement. "We know there is a time and place for confrontation," Moak said.

"Weasel Lips". What an excellent name for Managements newest whipping boy. Lee Joke.

My ALPA dues cost me more than my health insurance. Aetna appear almost honest compared to these people.

It's definitely tough talk from one who has a track record of dropping his pants for management. Apparently, thats what he refers to as "constructive engagement".

Was Moak a PFTer? Did he pay for his own lodging like a poor regional pilot has to when he went through training at DAL? What a joke.
USAPA is the answer, a union by pilots for pilots. I am so glad we left ALPA!!!

More importantly why does the new ALPA National MEC have only one guy with a mustache?

It's a new breed of ALPA. Instead of wearing a mustache and acting manly as they let management bend them over they now shave everything and actively seek a bend over. It's called constructive engagement.

USAPA = Pilots stealing jobs.

Know nothings Doing nothing is more like it!

Yeah, that bad old ALPA that provided all the things that made the Good Old Days good. But you youngin's probably only know about those days from the endless ramblings of the codgers you fly with.
