OMFG has anyone else seen this abomination yet? I saw a PDT new hire wearing it and it is absolutely hideous.

As if our job didn't have enough issues, now I have to feel like a tool everyday I go into work.

Yes, the new threads look horrid. Kind of like what a bellhop would wear. If they want us to wear those new things, how about getting some new planes to accompany them. I'll continue to wear my old ragged uniform to match my tired and weathered dash.

the epaulets are kinda like united's but way more gay. i saw some new hire wearing them, but where's the link to the rest of the uni?

Wow. So they aren't just switching? They're just mixing and matching? Passengers will get to walk across the raining ramp, up to a an airlineliner with the portion of the previous scheme that hasn't peeled off yet to be greeted by a flight crew with two totaly diffrent uniforms. awsome.

You mean to tell me you weren't aleady feeling like a tool before the new uniforms?

Well I certainly didn't feel cool wearing our current uniform, but as far as pilot uniforms go, it is fine.

I wish I had some pictures for those of you who haven't seen the new uniform yet. They are black with thin silver stripes. The tie is plain black, and unlike the ones we have now, it has no pattern and no us air logo on it. The blazer has the same gay thin stripes and to top it off- they only go half way around the sleeve.

On top of the bad design, they look cheap as hell- like a chauffer of a run-down limo company. The guy who drives the bus on my way to work has a nicer uniform.

Lol, yeah doug. The new guys are wearing different uniforms then the current employees. Nice, huh?

yep, they suck. I'm an AW guy and we started getting our new duds a few weeks ago. The company had this vote on your new uniform thing and never told us the results; knowing AW or "US" management, I'd say they went with the cheapest. (big surprise) The hat is high-school-band like and the stripes, well the stripes make us look like really important FA's. Nothing against FA's, but the tiny little stripes looks to me like the company wants to de-identify pilots and make everyone look like knobs. The good news is, we don't have to wear them until we are all one big happy family. That won't be for a verrry long time, if ever. See You in Court, Melvis

I just like how PDT always has a way of identifying new hires. You are real fresh meat if your ID looks like you made it yourself on a home printer. For a while you could look at the permanent ID format and see who had a new one. Now we can look at the epaulets and see who is new.

On a seperate note, how long do we have until we have to wear the new uniform? Is there a set time frame? If I have to buy the tie and epaulets myself, I am waiting until the last minute or I leave, whichever comes first.

The hat is high-school-band like

Boy, I sure hope that doesn't come back to PDT any time soon. I really don't think anybody will wear it anyway now. What's the worst they will do? Suspend us on days off. I call those Golden Days.

Yeah I remember the survey about the uniforms on the hub last year. We weren't able to vote. Only the mainline guys voted. With all the options available they had to vote for, I find it hard to believe this was the most popular. Whoever voted for this uniform is out of their mind and should be tarred and feathered.

Had I ever thought of that while I was at PDT, I might've tried it.

"Hey Lamp, this is CS. We have a junior man for you."
"Nope! I'm suspended!"
"It's been lifted."
"**** you." (Suspension is back baby!)

Seriously. You think JB is going to call you in and fire you guys? You essentially have tenure. Just don't do anything too egregious and you can dramatically increase your QoL :)

Yeah, here is another vote for "the duds are hideous."

I ran into a new hire wearing them in philly and thought he was part of some Civil Air Patrol splinter cell. Poor son of a gun, I hope he realized I wasn't laughing at him in particular. I can hardly wait to put them on myself (sarcasm).

I think I will wear the blues until you can see my underoos through the seat of my pants (Aquaman underoos, if you care to know).

Per the contract, the company is to provide all epaulets and insignias, hat badge, wings, etc. Further, I believe a change in uniform is to be paid for by the company. I am sure they will try to escape it, but hopefully it can be enforced. You shouldn't have to pay a dime, as far as I've read, but I'm sure some creative interpreting will cause a hassle.

Hey twighead, now you can look like a tool while feeling and acting like one. Haha.
