Rumor is UPS is parking DC-8s and some 757s.

Pilots have been informed to expect substantial displacements off of the DC8 within the next couple of weeks.

No furloughs or headcount reduction according to management.

Yes indeed that is correct. Was told last night there will be about 15 75's that will turn into spare aircraft. What a fun year we are about to have.

Your rumor is wrong (for NOW.)

>> Hello, this is Bob Miller with the IPA Information Line for Friday,
January 16th.

Yesterday, the Company indicated planning in place to move substantial
numbers--in the neighborhood of 30 to 40 crews--from the DC8 to other
UPS fleets. According to the Company, we could see a
realignment/displacement bid announced as soon as next week and posted
by the end of the month. The Company also confirmed that no furlough
will be conducted as part of the bid.

Several other pieces of information came out of yesterday's meeting.
The rumor that the Company is parking 757/767s is not true. The Company
is not parking 75s or 76s. The same is true for the DC8s. There are no
current plans to place any UPS aircraft in long term storage.

According to the Company, the 757/767 will experience a reduction in
flying, but no aircraft will be parked. The DC8s will obviously be
flown less, however, the current plan is to maintain these aircraft in
an active, operational spare capacity.

Also, talks with DHL are not dead. The Company stated that talks
continue with DHL, and that both sides are hopeful an agreement can be
eventually reached. Also, UPS is continuing its aggressive campaign to
win DHL customers.

A lot of this parked rumor came from A/C maint. They were telling crews that 15 757 were being parked, some said even parked in the desert. It just looks like there will be several 75's that were once assigned to flying to now being assigned to spare(active) aircraft.

anyone ever see animal house and the scene where Kevin Bacon is in the midst of the riot , crying "All is well, All is well? sounds familiar

parking a/c

bukakke...

What is your point here? Is it that you are hoping that ups WILL park a/c leading to a possible furlough?
Not sure if you have a dog in this fight or just enjoy flamebaiting.

I think he is commenting on the state of the industry in general.
