There was a helpful thread recently on life at the UPS ONT domicile. Thanks to everyone who chimed in with good info!

There may be some opportunities to start in MIA the first year with UPS on the horizon. Could you please offer your perspective on the schedules and crash pad scene down in sunny Florida, please? Thanks!

Here are some questions just to get things rolling:
Is MIA all domestic or is there an international "Z" category too?
Does most of the South America flying originate in MIA?
Is reserve generally bid by senior or junior folks?
What are the easiest ways to commute up and down the east coast to MIA?
I read that there is an airport train between FLL and MIA. Is that convenient in a pinch?

Thanks again. Have a great weekend!

I don't fly for UPS, but you can commute into MIA on just about every major airline. The same goes for FLL, and there are many LCCs there as well.

Commuting into/out of South Florida to anywhere will suck, a lot of flights are full. Where do you plan on commuting from?

Opa Locka (OPF) and North Perry (HWO) are between FLL and MIA, but there is no airline service so they are worthless to you unless you have your own airplane.

The Tri-Rail will get you from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami, the station at FLL is just to the southwest of the airport on Griffin Road and Anglers Avenue....right near Outdoor World. There might be a bus or something to the terminal, it is outside of walking distance. If you had to, it would be a short cab ride. I don't know about the Tri Rail station near MIA. I do believe the time schedule for the trains is limited, they don't run all night.

Good luck, if I can help you with anything else please drop me a PM.

The tri-rail is by no way easy. I would plan for at least a 2 hour trip. There are free shuttles to the station from each airport. by the train only runs about each 1/2 hr.

once at the MIA station UPS ha s a vendor which will get you to Opps, for free. plan another 30 minutes.
There is no Z section in MIA.
reserve senior, Deep south senior, central america & day turns next, then the night turns.
