{NEW HIRE DINNER}
UPS has scheduled two more new hire classes before the end of
the year. The first class is scheduled for November 30. The IPA
will host a New Hire dinner, Thursday, December 8 with 5 crewmembers.
The next class is scheduled for December 8 with a New Hire dinner
at the IPA on Thursday, December 15.

You don't need a bunch of letters of rec. If I remember correctly, in my class, no one had more than two letters. Most, myself included, only had 1. If you don't apply and try, you'll never know. At this point in time, interviews are at a trickle at best (unless you want to go to the dark side). BUT, I think we will see a huge turn of events once: 1. Xmas peak is over, 2. new contract is finished. I have been wrong before, but numbers that I've heard is we are way behind the staffing curve on certain fleets (unfortunately, overstaffed on the -8 panel :( ).
 
not sure if previous employment with big brother brown helps in getting you an interview. some of the guys i know have said they did various jobs (ground, loading, ramp...) previously and it helped in the interview but they didn't think it put them on the fast track for an interview.
