I misunderstood what you meant about "short field performance like 4000".

Yes, the CL300 can work in and out of 4000 with weight/temp/range/payload limits; see them in HXD fairly regularly. But yeah, if you NEED 4000' the Sovereign is likely your plane.
 
But can the Hawker and challenger get into 4000 feet

Yes indeed. Both regularly operate out of Hilton Head and East Hampton (and Aspen) on hot days which is incredible for super-mids. Huge wings and huger :))) brakes. The tailhook is standard equipment.
 
A Falcon 50 can, either the straight 50 or the EX. You can pick later models of the straight 50 very reasonably.

Buy 50-4 serial 228 for sale by Duncan right now and be done with it. They are asking 6.75, could probably get 6 and a quarter or less. Owners bought a 900EX and looking to move it.

If you've seen a Hawker operating out of HXD or Aspen on hot days, they werelight on gas. I mean REALLY light. The Hawker is a good airplane, but definitely not the choice for short/high/hot.
