If you went into a regional with 3000tt/2000multi/800 turbine pic...would your upgrade time be quicker than somebody that went into a regional with say 800/200. Obviously , seniority plays a role but if the person above you doesn't have the time?

But I am guessing there are a lot of guys from IA or other high timers with lots of RJ experience that would make my question a simple no.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Doubtful..98% of the people will have the time. It is all seniority. I think most carrier is 3000TT for upgrade, which you can get that in abuot 3 years if you got hired with 800tt.

And even if you did, you'd be on reserve forever. When the FO's that are senior upgrade, they will do so to positions above you on the captain list at your base.

It's people like you pulling the industry down. Instead of working hard to achieve your goal you'd rather step over people because you have more time. People like you have hurt the industry in the past and it does't seem to be changing.

WTF Mate? I have been doing on demand charters for over three years now how do you think, "I got more time"? Not exactly easy work and neither is life at the regionals. I was just curious on how that situation would work.

So, lemme guess....if you were running things at a regional and a guy came off the street hired with lets say 3000pic in a jet your company flies...you would make sure he sat right seat for like three years so he could meet your definition of paying his dues?

I am not trying to pick a fight but your litmus test of a pure person is a little jacked.

Thanks Axel for answering the question

At the airlines it does not matter how much time or experience you have as long as you meet the mins, it is 100% about seniority. It has nothing to do with skills/experience, when your number comes up you go to training provided you bid the seat and want to upgrade.

Cool , thanks for the explanation. I'm coming from a place where seniority really has no bearing on anything.

At my company you can only put the bid in when you have the time. You need 4000 TT for the jet and 3000 for the prop....although we are getting rid of the prop so it really doesnt matter I guess. Anyways there were some people in my new hire class that already had the time so they put their bids in for Capt right away. Every month people more senior to them that didn't have the time last month have gotten the time this month. So they keep gettin pushed back. Right now they are getting pretty close to upgrade and thats cause the upgrade time at the company right now is holding right around 3 years or so. So it might help you get ahead of a few people, but it wont get you light years ahead of the game. If you can go ahead and put the bid in the first chance you get and just wait it out. You will get the upgrade soon enough.
