I understand that different companies have different hourly requirements to reach captain. I don’t know of any place that qualifies you based on the 1500 ATP mins.

What’s an estimate at certain regionals (expressjet, skywest, etc…) of the hours required to go from right seat to left?

I go to the right seat after I drank too much. I let the wife be the Capt because she doesn't drink. For me, it is usually 3 hours for her to upgrade to the left seat.:puke:

That's a good question..

I think they are all different..

PCL will let you upgrade at 3500 total, unless you have 500 in type with PCL, then they bump it down to 3000.. From what I understand..

SKW 2500TT w/ 1000 crew/turbine. The crew turbine can be in any sort of operation, does not have to be 121.

Freedom DHC has CA's with 1600 TT. Some flew nothing larger than a Baron before they became DHC8 PIC's. Every new hire that met ATP mins and planned on being FO's were taken into a separate room and mgt attempted to bully them into CA. Most held their ground and stayed FO.

Also my friend told me that XJT ONT base went very junior. So junior that he is like 5 numbers away from holding CA and he has been there less than a year. Just the way things are right now.

Mesa/Air Midwest/Freedom upgrades the Dash and the Beech at 1500 hours. My understanding is that ICAO requires 2500 hrs to fly international, which is why the jet upgrades are different, or any carriers that fly props to Canada or Mexico.

What was previously said about trying to make street hires be captains is true as well.. fortunately for us most street hire captains on the 1900 had qualifying previous experience.

-Haha, good rumor, but tell your friend that he hasn't studied his seniority list very carefully. I've been here at XJT for 11 months and I'm still a good 370ish numbers away from an upgrade to even the most junior base. (educated guess) Most junior captain was a 5/16/05 hire as of our last award. I'm sure Superpilot92 can back me up on this.

What? I know people who have upgraded at ATP mins and go to Mexico all the time.

People need to get their facts straight beofre posting. First, I know people who have upgraded here at Mesa IN the JET with ATP mins. Second, obviously you have to meet ATP mins to upgrade, however, you also must meet ICAO minimums (FAA Order 8400.10). There is a formula that takes your total PIC (must exceed 150 hrs.)+ total hours as SIC x.5 and that number must exceed 1200 hours. It's an ICAO thing flying outside the US.

Yes this is correct. I have been here just over 2 years and was given a may upgrade class. But the most junior guy in class will be in class at the 2 year mark. Not bad at all. I think it will dip below 2 years this year

well "most" people would meet those requirements if they meet the FAA mins correct?
