Does anyone know if UTC has an internship for students?
Most Corporate Operators do not have internships, there are many reasons for this:

1. Typically you wouldn't be qualified to work for them until years after graduation.

2. The internship would most likely be non-flying due to fairly stringent insurance and/or company requirements.

3. Privacy concerns, Corporate operations are not very "public". The movement of upper level executives is company confidential.

4. They have no shortage of qualified people to hire. (i.e. there is no need for an internship)

These are just some of the possible reasons... There is probably some smaller operators out there that do an internship, but I doubt many of the Fortune 500 do Pilot Internships (however I wish they would.)

Good Luck...

Does anyone have ant info on United Tech (UT) in BDL?

Address? Which hangar are they in?

Thanks

Why is it that after a company is featured in a trade magazine, like ProPilot, everyone is hot trying to get info on them:eek: It seems to me that interest in a company like UT should have started before it's featured in a major publication...........Sorry for the rant but you'd probably have a better chance getting hired by them if you started asking questions before they made the cover, with thousands of unemployed pilots out there, your job just got a lot harder trying to get noticed by them. It's not like they haven't been around in aviation for a while.

Speaking of which, UT has been around for 75 years and always been based in Hartford (East Hartford).......Renscheler(sp) Field and now Bradley Field (Signature Flight Support) and St. Hubert.

As for interns............they just brought one on as a pilot (I think the article said he has about 500 hours and flying the Hawker 1000) that worked in the department for a couple of years prior. I haven't heard if they still have an intern program.

UT's address is:

200 Signature Way
East Granby, Connecticut 06026

UT *does* have a Flight Ops Internship out of BDL. UT seems to be pretty good to Purdue students; I know a past intern, and I believe we have one there now.

The internship is paid (professors say about $2500/month), and the people I have talked to say its a very nice gig to have, on par or better than the Coca-Cola internship.

I unfortunately don't have contact information; I chose to apply for regional internships.... Good luck!

Let me correct my statement. I should have said that UT hired their former intern, he's now a First Officer on the Hawker 1000.

Sorry about that Falcon Capt., you are probably correct in your earlier post.

How can we rely on getting current info on the goings' on in the world of BBQ, if Falcon Capt. is jet setting around the world!! We're starting to feel left out, and alone!!!:(

I interned at UT, not the flight department, but the company and it was certainly less than 2500 bucks a month. Pretty sure all intern pay there is worked out in a formula based on the amount of college credits you have earned. Maybe if someone is interning after third year and has a lot of credits, possible, but probably not the norm.

My guess is the Flight Department works out it's intern pay on it's own budget...

$2500 a month doesn't sound out of line... Companies like this should be starting their pilots out in the $80k range, so $2500 is reasonable.

It isn't that this pay is rediculously high, it is that Regional pay is rediculously low...

Tell me about it! We are REALLY busy at work again... Usually December is a slow month, our first half is going nuts!

I am in dire need of some good BBQ (Texas, Brazilian, whatever!)

BigD, when I get down there some day, get that Seminole fired up and we'll go up to Llano, I gotta try Coopers! I'll even try to bring JetPilot500 as ballast! :D
