Just posted this on another thread.....

I'm sure that UA will want a hip new name for the Shuttle.

I initially thought of "Zip!", but that's already been taken by Air Canada.

Then I thought of "Zoom!"

How 'bout just plain "Jet!"

Or, maybe "Speed!"

Whatever they call it, it must have an exclamation point!!!!!

Cheers!

GP

P.S....please don't let this thread get out of hand!!!

U302

Or...

How bout " Cheap seats available !"

Maybe UAL will sell advertising on the sides of the jets just like the Police Depts. are considering ? Not a new idea but maybe a good one. Was it Western Pacific that did this before ??? Obviously the flying public does not care what the planes look like as long as the seats are cheap !

In any case, glad to see a proactive move rather than cutting to profitability. Also glad to see the A320s being used for this, gotta compete !

Nice contrast between your avatar and mine.

It take all kinds.

Later...Fore Left!

How about "NeUnited"

I can't wait to see the commercials for this one!

They need to bring back that friendly skies thing... that "Rising and We are United" has not worked.

Wow, UAL78 FINALLY gets an avatar uploaded!!!:D

Will this new "shuttle" help preclude and/or reduce the number of furloughs?

Hey Splert

Your avatar is either a fine piece of art, landscape water color ??? Or I have had too many beers ! I just cannot seem to find one that really says something about me, after all, they all make so much sense.

Cheers !

My Avatar

It took so darned long to finish my airplane- so here it is. I guess I'm flattered that someone noticed I didn't have one or maybe I just stuck out because I didn't. Either way, I'm up to date.

The proposed Shuttle, in the near term, maybe not much of a change regarding furloughs- I hate that name. When I was "furloughed" I thought, "Why not call it what it is? I'm LAID OFF!" I'm thinking back on the military connotation of furlough where it was kind of a good thing- just to have a little time off to go home. This is hardly that.

But if the Shuttle, whatever it's called can be successful, it can't be anything but good news for getting people recalled sooner than later. From my vantage, righting the company and getting pilots back to work is almost always used in the same sentence.

UAL78, that airplane is gorgeous. It's an RV-4, right? Congratulations on a tremendous accomplishment. You must be very proud. If you have any bigger pictures on a web site or something, please let us know.

It's been a dream of mine to build an airplane since I first went to Oshkosh in 1981, although I don't know how realistic it is. I don't think it will happen anytime soon with a United furlough (there's that word again) in the family. Meanwhile I'll thumb through Sport Aviation and admire others' incredible workmanship. Let's get your airplane in there for all to see.

Cheers!

Yep,an RV-8

It has a Lycoming IO-360-A1B6 with a Hartzell C/S prop. It has a VM-1000 engine indicating system, full gyro panel, King GPS w/moving map, King Navcom, Garmin Xpndr w/alt. report. But I must admit, perhaps the coolest thing it has is an electric forced air heater for ground ops and to keep Mrs. UAL78 happy along with a CD player for her books on tape/CD, with an XM satellite receiver. It's painted with a Sikkens 4 color pearlescent/clearcoat paint system.

That's probably more information than you wanted to know. Just know that in a sadly humorous way, the project started out envisioned as a "frugal flyer" endevor and was planning to spend a minimum of $ on it. Well, you know how those things go...

If I did it properly, here's another picture.

Thanks for the kind words,

UAL78

How 'bout...

The United Shovel!

They could always use the logo to dig out from under all the debt when the Shovel goes BK!!!?!?:D

Tred-mo',

Funny as hell. Sick and twisted, but funny.

UAL78,
Gorgeous! So THAT'S what a garage is for.

Cheers!

RV-8

UAL78,

Truly a beautiful plane!! How long did it take you to build it? Any recommendations for someone who is planning on starting to build a RV-8? Any specific reasons why you chose to build the -8 rather than the -8A? (personally leaning toward the -8 but don't have any tailwheel experience). Thanks for any info
