Furlough Recall Notification: August 9, 2005

July 08, 2005
The company today announced that they intend to recall an additional 600 Flight Attendants from voluntary furlough per Section 21.A.4.c. of our Contract effective August 9, 2005. Higher than expected Flight Attendant attrition is a contributing factor in the decision to recall. Flight Attendants junior to and including those with System Seniority number 7968, with an SW classification seniority date of December 9, 1990, as listed on the System Seniority List dated July 6, 2005, are subject to recall from voluntary furlough. This is a permanent recall.

The recall will be conducted in inverse seniority order. As required by Section 21.A.3.e. of the Contract, all Flight Attendants being recalled will return to the domiciles from which they were furloughed. United will send notification via FedEx or certified mail no later than Friday, July 8, 2005 to those being recalled.

Additionally, the Company plans to return the remaining 851 Flight Attendants on voluntary furlough by November 30, 2005. All affected Flight Attendants will receive the contractually required 30-day notice of recall. Specific information on how the Company plans to complete the recall of all Flight Attendants from voluntary furlough has not been communicated.

This recall is in addition to the 500 Flight Attendants previously recalled effective July 25, 2005 and August 8, 2005 and the 150 recalled effective August 15, 2005 . We encourage all Flight Attendants on voluntary furlough to review the voluntary furlough information package available on our website at www.unitedafa.org and SkyNet.
