This is truely sad:

From United Air Lines Operations Manager to it's Pilots, an email dated Feb 26.:

"As a reminder... Supplemental Bottled water is boarded for all pilots on Int'l flts (excluding Canada), Hawaian flts,....and all those domestic flts exceeding 2100 miles. For flts over 8 hrs each pilot will be provided 2 supplemental bottles of water. This ...is for consumption ON the airplane. (But any unfinished portion of the bottle may be taken with you at the completion of the flt.)
No other water or galley supplies may be removed from the aircraft for personal use. For domestic or Canadian flts less than 2100 miles in length, water is not boarded ...for flt crew. But pilots may still consume water, soft drinks, juices, etc. from the regular galley supplies...however there is not a sufficient amount of water to provide an entire bottle ...for each pilot.

If only you had done a search you could have beat this dead horse the first time it was distorted and exaggerated! I wonder if a message from Feb has already been discussed? Naa. They are trying to get pilots flying DEN-OKC to quit getting a whole bottle of water meant for about 10 people, drinking a small portion of it, and having to throw the rest out because the next crew doesn't know who has had their greasy lips on it. It does sound completely crazy to instead drink it a glass at a time from the galley.

How about "we are rationing the CEO's pay........from now on, he only gets $1 million for showing up to work one day and $500,000 if he decides to play golf instead of the standard $1 millon to do absolutely nothing except cut pay, pension and benefits"

It's real simple- "I'm calling in fatigued due to lack of hydration" the end!

While this thread is a well digested repost, there was a good article on "Pilot Hydration" that's worth a read here: http://www.airlinepilotcentral.com/content/view/114/40/

Still, I don't get what the problem is here. Am I the only pilot whose company pays per diem? geez guys - that's what it's for! Buy your own stinkin' water if the company won't provide it for you. Of course if you can get it free then that's better, but to bitch and moan about it and then get kidney stones because the company won't provide it I just don't understand.

Just reading the & the company does not say that the pilot can not drink water. Here is a quote:

Correct. I say again,

What the Operations Manager wants the pilots to do is quit grabbing a couple of the huge water bottles for short legs. It sounds better if you distort it into a ban or ration on water, but that is not the case.

More on Water

If you thought the drinking water issue was bad, get this: A company memo, just out stated, "Pilots and flight attendants should not use the blue water if it appears someone else will use the lav soon. Each push of the button uses approximately one quart of blue water and costs $0.46. Additionally, there is no sanitary reason to flush after each use; one flush will easily clean the bowl after as many as five uses. If blue water usage continues to increase, then employees will be required to buy their own supply and deliver it from a personal dispenser. Camel-back hydration systems will work nicely, and can be purchased though payroll deduction at a nominal cost." Pardon the pun, but this is a bunch of krap, and I'm not going to take it! WS
