A transatlantic flight has made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport. The United Airlines flight en route from Rome to Washington requested permission to land due to technical reasons this afternoon. There were 247 passengers and crew on board.
The aircraft landed safely in Shannon at about 3.40pm. The plane is currently being examined by engineers.
It is not yet known when it will be able to continue on its journey.

There are probably two or three diverts there a week, if not daily. Probably the most popular ETP alternate.

Odor near lav at door 2L. Mx found evidence of burnt/melted plastic around a light fixture.
