Rumors flying around on the UAL side and now I heard form a buddy on the jetblue side that he is hearing the same thing.

We just "gave" up on NYC, and our VP leaked to the Media they want more North/South flying via consolidation.

I've though the same, it would make sense, from the standpoint of no overlap, similar planes, small enough merge not to cause regulatory problems....they already tried to buy the east coast with the failed usair bid ( thank god it failed)

now if only it does happen and the JB board and management stays and get rid of all UAL's board, upper, middle, lower management and supervisors/leaders the new airline would be a good place to work and an unstoppable force.

Yeah...UAL Mngt needs to go!

I rode the jetblue J/S the other night and was really surprised at the product and friendly F/A's.....too bad we (UAL) will just screw that up!

This might be the beginning of the end of DIAMONDD's beginning of the end of Jetblue posts.

And of course, staple the JetBlue folks to the bottom if the UAL list.

No thanks, been there done that..................
Now if JB buys UAL, Now we can talk........

One would think. BUT, one would be wrong. As long as it still amuses me to post that, I will. I may have to modify it sometime in the future to "could this be the beginning of the end of United?":D

So just curious... how the stock options and stock price would work in a UAL buyout.

I know our options vest immediately, do they then convert our JetBlue stock to UAUA at a 1:1 ratio (@$45 a share). Because if they do... I could really use a nice 4-5 year vacation!

short answer NO.

the way buyouts normally happen is the buying company offers cash and a share exchange. for example if the JB stock is $10/share and the UAL is $50share , ual could come and offer $20/share for JB, with $10 cash and $10 in ual Shares. so per every share of JB you have ( lets say you have 5000 options and the options vest right away so you "own " those 5000 shares ) you would get $10cash and 1/5 of a ual share, or 1000 ual shares and $50,000 cash

Thats still nuthin to sneeze at! It'd make a nice beer fund.

Hell no. United is like the fat chic at your wedding that STILL gets laid.

Disclaimer: No militant angry non-English speaking United gate agents from IAD were harmed in the making of this post.

There were these same rumors back in 2000 and 2001 before 9/11. Does anyone know if UAL was looking back then?

I'll take the staple and go gladly with sonny down to gru to hang out with the brazilian girls, you can enjoy our jet brown experience here without me
