United Airlines warns pilots after four safety inc...

Airline News
United Continental Holdings Inc warned its pilots last month to double down on safety procedures after one flight was in danger of crashing and another landed with fewer fuel reserves than regulations require, the airline confirmed Wednesday. The Chicago-based carrier cited four recent "safety events and near-misses" in a Jan. 9 bulletin to pilots, including an emergency in which pilots had to perform a pull-up maneuver to avoid smashing into the ground, United spokesman Charlie Hobart confirmed.

Why and how did this make the news?

Define "in danger of crashing?" Hard to believe. Would like to hear about this "pull up maneuver" as well.

A delta jet was almost a smoking hole a few weeks ago when ATL tower told a 73 to go around. He disengaged the auto throttles instead of toga and pitched up but didn't actually begin to add power until 100 feet above Riverdale rd.

But it didn't make the news.

S__t happens, that's why we call it life. Managing risks the best we can as humans. Maybe we can try robots the next go around!
