Union Pilots Invited To Cal Alpa Wall Street Unity Event

ALL UNION PILOTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND CAL ALPA WALL STREET UNITY EVENT MARCH 12th

Please help us send the message to the finincical capital of the world it's pay back time! If you are going to attend please RSVP CAL ALPA SPSC Chairman Mike Jones at [email protected] so we can appropriate plans for secuirty, transportation, food and beverage and be finalized.

Fraternally,

CAL ALPA SPSC

Q. What time should I show? Where do I need to be and when will I be done?

A. If you are planning to show at our EWR staging point, be at the Newark Airport Hotel (Formerly Newark Airport Double Tree) at 0800 for coordination, food and beverage, and a mandatory event briefing. If you need transportation from the airport to the hotel, we will provide this. The details will follow in a week or so. Bus transportation to and from NYC will be provided. You will be back at the Newark Hotel by 1600.

Q. What if I want to go directly to NYC? Can I go directly, and if so, where do I go?

A. We have secured the NYC Police Museum on 100 Old Slip as the staging point a few blocks from the event location. The location is near all public transportation entry/exit points. If you plan to proceed to this point on your own, please plan on arriving by 0900 for coordination, food and beverage, and the mandatory event briefing.

Q. What will we be doing at this event?

A. We are not going to publicly present the blueprint of our plan. The event includes different types of public unity demonstrations

Q. Why should I take a day off from my family to attend?

A. If you have read “Confessions of a Union Buster,” you understand that one of the most effective ways to reach management (and one of their main threats) is the unification of the employee groups and their subsequent desire to follow their union’s lead. Simply put, how can you dispute the effect of several hundred Continental pilots demonstrating in unison in the financial capital of the world? This will provide leverage at the bargaining table with Continental Airlines.

Q. Do I need to come in uniform?

A. Yes, full winter uniform including hat is mandatory. Dress appropriately for March 12 and possible inclement weather. Uniform-approved overcoat, scarf and gloves are acceptable and optional.

Q. Do I need to bring anything to eat or drink?

A. Your union will provide food and beverage throughout the event. However, if you want to bring your own sandwich, snack bar, fruit etc. that is fine.

Q. Will I be able to leave my personal effects in a secure area?

A. Yes, at both the EWR and NYC staging points, secure areas will be provided to leave crew bags, extra clothing and personal belongings. The buses that transport us also will be secured at all times.

Q. Can I get a discounted room at the Newark Hotel?

A. Yes, discounted rooms have been arranged. Call the Newark Airport Hotel at 908-436-4600. Tell them you are with the Continental Airline Pilots’ Union Event and you can get a room for $59, subject to availability of the rooms that have been blocked.

This is it. If you can't take the time to show unity here... then how can you expect effectiveness.

There is no way we can get a national sen list, payrates, etc..if we can't even show up to an event...

good job CAL.....

good job CAL.....

.....but we AREN'T UNIFIED....We are very divided on many issues including scope, merger/seniority, age60, and political endorsements......

.....maybe we should unify before we hold a "unity event"......

Are the AWA and USAir MECs going to attend? Are they unified....

Maybe Rodney King can give a speech at the event......

You can't always have 66,000 pilots unified on every issue, Joey. The point is that the pilots are unified around the goal of improving the profession. Democracy allows us to decide which methods we will use to accomplish that. But since you have the political acumen of a sack of dirt, you'll never understand that.
