Considering they just bought Colgan for $20 million, and then sold a note to gain $283 million dollars (which they will now buy Q400s with for Colgan apparently)...

How can PT and his cronies tell PNCL pilots that they cannot afford to pay the ALPA proposal contract, which apparently, only costs about $50 million more over its duration?

They can say whatever they want because no one (and that includes ALPA) holds them to account for anything they say or do. They don't give a _____ about anyone and they will do anything they want, whenever they want because they have no morals, decency, or interest in anything but money....for themselves that is. Nothing will change until ALPA grows a pair and decides to take matters into their own hands....which will never happen because the regionals aren't the ones that pay the bills.

Don't say that NO ONE will hold them accountable.

Many of us did.

Many of us were either threatened or outright fired for it, and went on to sue for hundreds of thousands, got their termination changed to "resigned", and went on to work for majors such as JetBlue, SWA, AirTran, Alaska, and CAL.

You CAN hold them accountable... if you are willing to risk it. Otherwise, for those not willing to take the risk and who vote in these POS T.A.'s, congratulations, you deserve what you get.

To everyone else who does their best to hold the line, good for you.

Yes....20 million. It will get very interesting. Good luck to the PCL guys. I was over there for almost 6 years and this does not surprise me one bit.

Sounds like XJ/Big Sky all over again.

Well if the mediator would release the PCL pilots into impasse, they would fix this situation in 30 days and one minute. Right now the NMB is following the Bush white house doctrine of all workers must suffer edict. Believe me the ALPA groups at PCL and ASA are just waiting for the chance to walk.

I guess I was saying it's sickening to see management lie and tell pilots that the airline can't afford the new ALPA proposal, while:

1. Buy another airline for $20 million, while stalling pilot contract negotiation

2. Sell a note to gain $283 MILLION, while stalling pilot contract negoatiation

Your just a warm body that is required by the faa to be in the front. Thats all you are to them. They would sell your kids for jet fuel if it was legal! I would look for a good family run corporate job if you want to enjoy working for the people that pay you.

Did Pinnacle pilots really want to sign a new contract in 2005? Don't know whose idea it was to delay contract by 2 years, but I think they are a genius.

They bought Colgan for $20 MILLION?

Actually it was $10mil in cash and a note for $10 mil secured by the stock the first $10mil bought. It's like buying a very expensive cab for 50% down with the car\b as security for the other 50% and only one payment. b.t.w. you get to keep all of the fares the cab brings in over the year. Nice deal if you can get it.

And if you sell it before the note is due you keep the difference between the $10 mil and the selling price.

Lot's of ways to make money on the backs of the 9L and 9E pilots. And I'm sure there are more than a casual amount of bonus money involved as well.
