Curious how many UND guys are on this website? Dont be bashful...

I think a lot of students don't like to say they fly up here due to the UND bubble effect. I personally got my private, instrument, and commercial all Part 61, flying POS aircraft in Illinois. I found some interesting things preflighting some of those airplanes. I realize how rediculously amazing the equipment and training is here at UND, and I have no qualms about telling people just that (especially fellow students who have never flown elsewhere). Just the other day I flew a Seminole that had less time than I did. Where else can you do that? I'll probably never have an opportunity like this again, so here I am. Plus, I'm walking away with a business degree. Seems like a win-win to me.

There often seems to be a "bubble" of good, or bad weather right over GFK. Often there will be crappy weather on the way, but it will dissipate as it approaches, thus allowing flight training to continue.

Other times the opposite happens. It's fine everywhere else, but GFK is socked in with crap.

God doesn't proclaim to be a UND pilot.



Sorry, it's a cheap shot...had a bunch of buddies that went there and I can say it is somewhat true. However, you can fill in the UND part of the joke for any of the pilot factories, like Purdue, WMU, and in particular any of those Riddle-clowns.
