UAL ? WRT pax hearing radio trans.

It's called Channel 9 and I believe that you here everything that's being transmitted on that particular frequency including other Aircraft. I'm sure somebody from UA could tell you for sure though.
 
Everything that is on that frequency......

(It's set up with an observer audio panel in the cockpit. So, if not set up right, they could overhear 121.5, the flight interphone, etc.)
 
If it is the same as about 10 years ago when I was in a UAL cabin, the pax love it. We were hanging out on the taxiway (or pulled over, I forgot) and pax announcements from Flight Deck were that there was a ground hold for where we were going.

Contrary to those announcements, I (as well as other pax) listening to whatever channel it was heard them talking to maintenance about our flight/aircraft.

Pax started pushing the call buttons left & right and demanding to know why we were being lied to.

Fun times.

Maybe there was a ground stop and something popped up while they were waiting. Channel 9 is on #1 com.
