Since you work at CAL, please get an education about the history of NWAC who used to own a big part of CAL and had to sell because of anti-trust laws. Since NWAC has voting rights on any merger until the year 2022, I don't think they'll let anyone of their competitors merge with CAL. End of discussion.

I am well aware that NWAC has a say in what happens with CAL and any mergers. I also know that anything is negotiable. With NWA marred in bankruptcy court and CAL being the only major able to hold its own right know I think old Larry has some "wiggle room." His exact words were "If Northwest and Delta get together then our hand may be forced to merge with someone." He also went on to say that it wouldn't be a good thing for CAL employees.

I am not sure a merger would reduce capacity long term. If you reduce capacity a low cost feeder just comes in and brings the capacity right back up.

I am not saying that the amount of available seats would reduce but just how many major carriers provide those seats.
