Can anyone tell me how much a UAL new hire starting in October would expect to get from the Success Shares and Profit Sharing plans? Also, when do these pay out?

Depending on how much we make and whether or not all or only some goals are met. It could range anywhere from about 73 cents on up to a hundred bucks or so. I would figure on the former as a better guess.

In other words, you'd probably much rather ram it up Tilton's butt than try to pay for a meal with it.

Success Sharing counts for nothing. Don't count on it. The checks are small. Now managements checks are worth a lot. Our's aren't. You won't even notice it when it hits the bank account.

What kind of benefits does United provide beyond a paycheck like, 401k, profit sharing, success sharing?
United provides full medical, dental, and life insurance for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependents. New employees, depending upon where you live, may have several medical and dental options to choose from. Some options incur a monthly charge. In addition, United will contribute 15% of your salary to a 401k program that you manage. You may elect to contribute more to your 401k program if you choose, but this does not change the company contribution.

I got this off the new hire website. It sort of implies that health insurance is paid by the company. I was under the impression that the family plan PPO was about $200/month. Does this fall under the "some options incur a monthly charge"?

What insurance does UAL use and what are my monthly out of pocket expenses going to be? Does the insurance include a prescription plan?

Thanks for any info.

For health insurance, it depends on which state you live in but in Colorado there are three options. The PPO, Blue Cross Anthem HMO, and Kaiser. Blue Cross and Kaiser are FREE for the whole family and for my purposes work even better than the PPO. They do include a perscription plan. For dental there are two plans. Aetna, which is free, and another plan which I think is slightly better, through MetLife I believe, for like $25 month for the family.
