A little TK bird told me that UA is looking to repo 763's outta HNL for Asian flying. Lots of unused PAA Pacific Division route authorities being looked at again. Anyone got the lowdown?? TNX!

That rumor has been floating around the line since at least January. I don't believe anything anymore that involves MISmanagement actually running an airline and trying to be competitive.

Probably based on the current market conditions and the fuel price, it just isn't too smart to keep sending B777s to NRT and KIX from HNL anymore especially in three class configurations when they could be downgraded to B767s and re-deploy the B777s elsewhere to places with more money making potential. Now they realize this and why they waited this long is beyond me. Hawaii is pretty waste of time and resources when it comes to making money. It's seasonal somewhat filled with the group packaged vacation central from Japan with crappy yields but the airlines tend to stick around for some reason. They probably have been a non-rev heaven in First and Business for quite some time. They could also increase codeshare with ANA.
