This cannot be good news for United that ACA is going to start a LCC in their back yard. What the heck is going on?

Atlantic Coast expects to sever ties with United
July 28, 2003 05:23:00 AM ET

NEW YORK, July 28 (Reuters) - Atlantic Coast Airlines (ACAI), which had been having difficulty renegotiating its regional jet service with bankrupt UAL Corp.'s (UALAQ) United Airlines, said on Monday that it expects to end that relationship and start up a new low-fare airline.

Atlantic Coast, which depends on United for about 85 percent of its business, said it has decided to run an independent airline out of Washington D.C.'s Dulles International Airport, after evaluating changes in the struggling airline industry.

The airline said it was evaluating whether to use aircraft made by Boeing Co. (BA) or Airbus , and said it had been in talks with other airlines about forming code-share marketing deals to boost revenue.

But Atlantic Coast said it could not predict how quickly its break from United would take place. REUTERS

If ACA gets Boeing or Airbus aircraft, won't that be the end of the DAL code-share due to the DAL pilot's PWA?
