Type cert. ? RE: giving dual

Okay, thanks in advance for any insights.

In an airplane with an "Experimental/Exhibition" type certificate, which is basically limited to exhibition and "proficiency" flights, can dual be given in exchange for money?

I know there is an organization that does Mustang rides as "training flights" (all their pilots are CFIs), is this done to escape the type certificate limitations?

I'm fishing around in other pools of knowledge, too, but wanted to get the FI opinion.

Depends...are you looking at giving someone instruction in their own airplane, or making an experimental airplane available to be used for instruction?

I'm not sure about the TF-51 conversion, but the D-model P-51's can have standard airworthiness certificates.

Edit: Crazy Horse has a "Limited" airworthiness certificate:

Yeah, we used to have a T-6 that was standard category.

The mustang example may not be a good one. Anyone got any insight on the original question?
