Looks like one has a bent right wing and main gear.
Another is in a ditch. I couldn't see much on the
Caravan(s).

This sucks.

Does that mean there will be 2 less upgrade for this june ?

I just hope they're not 320's.....

At least nobody was hurt? Heavy... you still holding on for the upgrade?

I flew one of the replacement airplanes from MEM to GSO to make the ILM run. I believe the airplanes where 904 and 905, doing the EWN and ILM to GSO runs. Fortunately nobody was on board. It happened around 11pm, when the crews where already at the hotel. A tornado hit the area and did lots of damage. When we went to the airport terminal to catch a commercial flight back to MEM we could see some trees knocked down. News helicopters where in the area around 9am. Both airplanes where total, with bent wings and damage to the fuselage do to the GPU hitting them. They where not in a ditch, but down to the side where the new FedEx ramp is being constructed. Empty containers where all over the place. About 20-30 of them.

Hope this is not going to postpone upgrades. Maybe we will get a couple more from somewhere. MEM and IND will be without spare for a while, no more stby at the airport.

Wasn't there a Van involved too?

Yes, but I did not get to see the damage. It looks like it was not tide down properly.

Man, there was some damage at GSO. I flew in the next day and saw the ATRs that were thrown off the ramp and down the hill. They looked pretty battered. The ground controller mentioned that a Pinnacle CRJ was also spun out off it's gate, and tossed into the middle of the ramp. One winglet was ripped off.

Is it possible to tie down properly for a tornado? I was in DRT with MRA when a tornado flipped a van that was tried down properly and no tie down can hold the plane against that.

CE...you still living the MAC dream? How's van life? Wish I was home more, like in the FLL van.

Not tied down properly? YGBSM.

There where two more vans out there that were properly tied down and did not sustain any damage. The pilots were able to make the morning run.

I've got 1500 hours on the ATR and I've never seen one tied down. I see you also have ATR time. Clearly you tie them down before hitting the hotel. Perhaps you could explain the proper way.

um... the one that wasn't tied down was the CaraVAN.

Ok, I didn't read carefully enough... my apologies.
