well, we know O2 was definatly available, and by the twisting of the metal im sure heat and or spark was available.

Aside from the chemistry debate.. god rest both souls on board...

Sad to hear. Not far from where I grew up.
 
You might want to actually read the story. There are at least two statements that seem to indicate that there might have been plenty of fuel on board:

1. The plane crashed right after takeoff. Not conclusive but certainly a good indication of fuel on board.

2. This quote from a witness:

‘‘I climbed up on the tanks. The tanks were leaking fuel, no fire, but they were leaking fuel,’’ he said.

Once again, not conclusive but it seems likely that there was fuel but that it didn't burn for some, as yet unknown, reason.
