All you AA'ers(that is, the ones left on the property  ) can rejoice now. The lawsuit against APA and AA has been tossed by the appeals court.

The suit by the TWA pilots against ALPA was affirmed. Start emptying your pockets, Duane!TC

Surprise, surprise......

Did ya tell the other ex-TWay guys on this board?
Some of them thought they would climb right up the AA list depsite the fact that they never applied there, or ever wanted to work there....Hell of a place it is, but uh, sure I will take somebody else's number if my lawyer is savy enough..

"Cause I deserve it, 'cause TWA hired me 100 years ago, so therefore..:D

Sorry TC,

I have flown with many TWA/OZ guys guys. They are excellent pilots and people. Sorry it ended like this, sorry it had to go in that direction. to begin with. I wish it really were a "brotherhood". Hope your flying is going well.

AA

So now I'm officially going forward and suing my own union. Gotta love the irony.

Hey csy,

Never wanted your "prized" aa seniority number. Enjoy your future.... Oh wait, you don't have one. You are an old bitter pric*, that tried how many times to get on with aa? How's aa treating you? Woops, forgot you don't work there anymore. It's really classy of you to get on here and whine about seniority numbers and who stole what. Just look at the SLT list. How many TWA guys left? Not many. It's pretty clear to everyone who stole what. I truly feel bad for everyone that loses their job. You on the other hand seem to deserve what you get. Now before you launch into a childish rant about me, I'm doing great and am happy with life. Hope you find happiness. Although I'm extremely doubtful with your attitude.

TWAdude--I'm hoping you will get MUCH more that a lifetime of dues from Duane...

Don't ever forget, if you aren't working in Herndon, you're working FOR those working in Herndon.

I'll give you a call this weekend. I'm glad you're doing well. :)

CSY--It would be easier to take if AA wasn't still operating 75 -80's they wouldn't have had. For once, they took the assets and got rid of the people.
Thanks AirCal! TC

Somebody did, they sued.

How many times? Not sure that it matters, but some people actually applied to AA 'cause they wanted the job....Personally I applied twice and got hired the second time around...Same with Southwest and JetBlue, guys that gets turned down the first time apply again if they want the job. You keep repeating that in every posting on the TWA / AA subject..What is the big deal?

As for bitter pric*, aye here comes the name calling again, running out of arguments are we?

It's really classy of you to get on here and whine about seniority numbers and who stole what.
Say what? Did I ever whine about anybody stealing numbers?
Sure ya don't have me mixed up with somebody else?

As for the rest of yer rant...Yawn, same dribble over and over again....

Except they are parking -80s now and already have a bunch of planes in the desert..Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the actual number of planes less at this time, than before TWA was bought?

As for the lawsuit that this thread was all about:
Heard it was only 600 guys that sued, or that was behind the suit.

Is that the same 600 suing ALPA, or is that all of the x-TWA dudes?

The suit is a class action with the class defined as all TWA pilots on the seniority list at whichever specific date in 2001 (approximately 2300). Contributions to pay the lawyers is voluntary. There are only a handful of actual named plaintiffs but they hold no specific powers other than the fact that they're the ones communicating with the lawyers.

I can't understand why nothing ever gets resolved for the benefit of all the pilots, what with all this love for one another.

You backstabbing, cocky, bratty, looking out for #1 mother F'ers make me sick!

I don't relish the thought of any more pilots on the street. That said, one only has to look at the ATA/ AI situation to realize the TW guys got a lot better deal than most in this business and their reaction was to sue the pilots at AA.

"Affirmed"? What was "affirmed"? Was ALPA's request for summary judgment "affirmed" in Bensel v. ALPA? Did Bensel et al have a court order they wanted "affirmed"?

From the conclusion in ALPA's brief.

"For the foregoing reasons, ALPA respectfully submits that the Court should affirm the District Court’s Order granting summary judgment in ALPA’s favor."

Perhaps you could provide a link to the courts decision, or post it. I'd just like to know what exactly was "affirmed" and what exactly is the status of the case. Saying a Court Order was affirmed doesn't tell us much unless we know what was affirmed.

Here's what's what. The lower court dismissed the whole lawsuit based on expiration of statue of limitations. The appellate court has now reversed that dismissal against ALPA only. Thus the suit may now proceed to the discovery stage. No decisions were made as to the merits of the suit; only the statutes of limitation.

TC -

I for one am not rejoicing, simply because I never had an opinion regarding the lawsuit. Having spent five years living in STL (during the early 90s), I had a lot of friends go to TWA, and had it not been for a slow application process in '99, I too would have gone. I am one of the few AA pilots who did appreciate TWA being around, and was sad to see them go.

That said, the TW/OZ pilots left in STL are great to fly with and, for the most part, class acts.

Good luck to all AA/TWAers who have gotten furloughed, I will be joining the list in Feb or March. Hope we all get back soon.
