Was watching Dinner For Five on IFC last night when I heard something interesting. First off, Dinner For Five is a show on the Independent Film Channel where host John Favreau has dinner with four others in the television/movie industry. The particular episode in question is this -> Dinner For Five #39
Friday, Jan. 14 at 10pm ET/PT Peter Berg, Billy Bob Thornton, Brian Grazer and H.G (Buzz) Bissinger. (btw it replays quite a few times).

Approx 22 or so mins into the 30 min show, one of the guys (Peter Berg I think) told a story of how one of the other guys (Bissinger) was a reporter for a Minneapolis newspaper and was going to break a story on how a TWA flight from MSP to ORD "dropped 5000' feet" and "somehow the pilot restarted the engines and landed the plane safely". He went on to say that TWA was 'paying everbody off' not to report the story. Bissinger was not permitted to break the story at the orders of his editor.

I dont remember if they said approx what year it was, I could only guess it as being in the mid 80's? Anyone know of any accuracy to this ?

Yeah, this story is false. We flamed all three after fuel filters iced up, and didn't bypass. But we only lost 4800 feet. Lyin' ba$tards !!

Those reporters can never get it right!
