When applying for a pilot job at a major airline, does it matter if the applicant has Turbo prop vs. Turbo jet time logged?

Apparently not, did you hear SWA bought Airtran with pilots hwo don't even meet our mins. Just get on with a step-up carrier and you will be fine as long as they get bought....assuming you are in the left seat at said carrier.

When I was applying around the airline world a few years back, turboprop and turbojet were both classified in the same category as turbine PIC as far as the apps were concerned. What the interviewers think about your past qualifications might be different, couldn't tell you.

It seems like many places don't seem to care about PIC time at all anymore, let alone if it is turbo-prop or turbo-fan. There have definetly been FO's hired at jetBlue and Delta.

For domestic carriers, 1000 turbine PIC used to be the norm, either on TP or TJ. For foreign carriers, assuming you can pass their medical, 1000 PIC in type for PIC jet jobs or 500 in type for SIC jet jobs.

I know seriously..

no way can an AT pilot at slightly less than the minmums handle a SWA jet...
