And do you know how unstable nitro is in liquid form with no means of stabilization

EXACTLY!

I was just thinking of posting that!!

Sno-globes are meant for shaking and aggitating...nitro is not. I dont think a nitro-globe would even make it to the airport...

I would have more respect for the TSA if they smashed the snow globe into oblivion right in front of the little girl, drained out the "hazardous" contents, put the pieces into a 1 qt plastic bag, and gave it back to the little girl. Can't these people show some compassion.

Then they should have arrested her and sent her to guantanamo bay.

Lots of 9/10 mindsets in here

SuperLooser,

It wasn't a mentally handicapped 11 year old girl that used 4 airplanes as weapons of mass destruction on 911. It was 19 Muslim males...... The 9/10 mindset is still looking for little girls snow globes...... Nothing has really changed...

It is time to look for bad people, not snow globes.......

had a supervisor(correctly badged) have his lunch taken away because he had too much gravy on it!!!! now thats tsa at its finest

Right after 9/11 I was totally gung ho about new security procedures. But it really has just gotten out of control. I use to work part time with a local Sheriff's dept. and spent some time in the prison (not as an inmate) Once a week or so, we would find someone with some kind of smuggled contraband. Sometimes weapons (never a gun though) There is no way to make a prison totally secure, so what makes us believe that an airplane can be too?

The only way to be secure is to look for the bad people, not the prohibited items. I flew on El Al a few years ago and I would have felt safe on that airplane without walking through a metal detector.. They profile and do a great job doing it.

It wouldnt take too much to make the skies safer. Profile. That one thing would do much more than anything we are currently doing. It will never happen though and we will keep screening the flight crews, grandmothers, and mentally challenged kids with snowglobes.

I flew in from overseas not too long ago and was pretty irritated with the experience. I had already gone through security, and decided I was thirsty and wanted a water for the plane since beverage service would take a while. I proceeded to by a bottle at a place not more than 75ft from my gate, kept the receipt and left the bottle unopened, only to go through security again at the gate and not be allowed to bring it on the plane. Pretty ridiculous in my book.

Way to go tsa. I guess you've once again shown you can outsmart a mentally challenged girl. Figures. The tsa screener was probably mad at her for being smarter than the screener.

Oh and I'm sure that snowglobe made it to someone's house.

No argument that the Toothpaste police are ignorant but what the heck was wrong with this kids parents? Were they mentally challenged as well? Who does not know you can not bring stuff like that though security? Or if they would have arrived at the airport when they should have they would have time to add this to their checked luggage. Maybe they should have a message that plays over the airports PA system every 10 minutes stating the 1-2-3 rule......or even a sign or two stating this at every checkpoint in the airport.

Passed through security this morning and ahead of us was a young (11 or 12 year old i guess) girl who appeared to have some type of mental disability.

She was crying and confused because the nasty lady with a TSA badge took away her snow globe.

She was traveling with her parents and from what I over heard, apparently she was on vacation and bought the snow globe for a friend/family member back home. Her parents were trying to explain that they would try and find another gift and her friend back home would never know the difference.

It was like seeing a puppy get run over...just a sad site.

But rest assured, the skies are safer now that TSA, Take Sh*t Away, prevented a snow globe from boarding an aircraft.

This here is our biggest weakness.... American is made up of a bunch of soft homos that think like this. Terrorists have no problem killing innocent women and children. You dont think they a problem teachig their kid about Jihad, and about being a hero for Islam? Rules are rules, I dont care if you're a man, woman, child or mentally retarded. My mother had a stroke years ago, and she has had liquids taken away from here, she's had ramdom searching done. Does that offend me? NO! They can't trust anyone! Hell we can't trust anyone! Are some of the TSA people as*holes? YES!!!! Most of them really. But they still have to prevent someone, anyone for that matter from bringing outside liquids on board. I'm sure the TSA lady talked to the girl and the girl started to act...well, like a retard and then the girls parents began to question and argue b/c their kid is "special" so she should get special treatmet, then people in the "audience" began to comment. And made it seem even worst.
It's kinda funny, you can't really call a retard a retard b/c it's not politically correct. You have to call them mentally challenged b/c they diserve equality. Well there you go... the girl had something the TSA wouldn't have allowed someone else to bring on board, then by equality she cant bring it on board. The moment we get soft on any kind of a handicap person (yes even people like my loving mother) I promise you we will have a Jihad freak walk up to the check point dragging a leg, claping, sticking his teeth waaaay out and singing ME LOVE TO FLY! DUUUUUHHHH," I LOOOOOVE CURRY!! HEHEHEH, OOOOH LOOOOOOK REEEEED, I LOVE REEEED! Dee-Dee-Deeeeeee!!!"

Ummmmm....ok.

First of all dumba$$ there's plenty to drink on the plane. You couldn't wait 10 min to be on board? Or if you were really thirsty then why didnt you chug it? See this is what I am talking about. I bet that you're one of those that goes to a foreign land and when you ask for something and you dont get it right away you start bit*hing and screaming " I am an american! I want service! Do you know who I am???! I am an american, let me speak to your manager?!" And then of course you get your as* kicked by 4 angry Italians b/c you aint SHI* in their country.

Awesome, an unwarranted personal attack right off the bat. Well done. I haven't lived in the US for over a year and it was my first visit back to the States in 15 months. And if you'd ever flown out of PEK, you'd know that it's not uncommon to get anywhere from 30 min to over 2 hour ground delays, stuck on the airplane. So yes, call me a "dumba$$", it doesn't change the fact that I'd like to be courteous to the other people on the aircraft by not having to make them get out of their seats so I can take a leak right away.

You should apply to the TSA or perhaps run for president.

Two thoughts for you:

The only protection from islamic fundamentalist can come from infiltrating their society and eliminating the threat. If we are hoping to protect our way of life from this type of thinking I hope that a snow globe is not where the battle lines are drawn. The TSA might keep us somewhat safer by preventing disturbed people from bringing weapons and such onto airplanes but we all know the routes to bringing contraband on an aircraft and they don't pass through the security check points.

The more we limit our rights and tear away at the Bill of Rights the less of a target we will be from these extreme groups. In essence they are winning the war without fighting the fight.
