Why is it that the small outstations for example, Palm Springs always have to be a pain in the ass when it comes to getting thru security? I’m a commuter and sometimes I choose to commute in business casual (not the monkey suit), and 99.9% of the time with your crew badge it’s not a problem carrying life’s necessities like deodorant or toothpaste but today was an entirely different story. They said with that stupid smirk on their face “you need to be in uniform to take those thru”. Even though I had the uniform in my bag and was carrying the jacket in my hand, they wanted me to actually be wearing it cause by doing so apparently means all the difference in the world. Now because I’m cheap and didn’t feel that it was just for me to buy new health care products and plus I wanted to be a smart ass I agreed to change, but not in the bathroom I decided to spread all my sh$t out on the table in front of the security line where they make you throw away all your liquids and put on a little strip show for the passengers (tips greatly appreciated). I took my wrinkled white shirt out minus the wings and name tag, and again walk thru security. Now technically I’m not in full “uniform” either, so these people (tsa morons) just choose which rules to enforce whenever it’s convenient for them.

Wow I feel so much safer with these dim wits protecting America’s airports. Oh yea and on the other side of security in front of everyone I stuffed that white shirt back into my bag and changed back into my more comfortable polo shirt. I’m so glad we can provide a means of work for the high school drop out mullet wearing tool bags that so proudly call themselves TSA!

Now I feel much better. I knew flight info was good for something. Oh yea MESA SUCKS!!

So with crew pass will we still have to wear the monkey suit? I would love to commute in street clothes if I could keep my toiletries from being confiscated. Hair product is expensive! ;)

cfi_greg,

This is an honest question. Did this experience change your opinion of TSA? Did you really hold them in high regard before?

Everybody knows how effective the TSA is.

Respectfully,

Lilah

Hey Kids...

You know the rules and then whine about having to follow them.

You have to be in uniform to bypass the liquids ban. Not rocket science. While you are arguing with the TSA there are probably 50 people around you talking about what a dipsh!t you are.

The one i love is that i have to show my drivers license because im told by TSA that my company ID is not valid? Like i cant like most illegals go out and buy a license thats fake
Gotta love government at work hahahahhaa what a joke

You're right. We should blindly follow all the rules, no matter how stupid or ignorant. Obey your TSA masters, or stand at attention before the man!

It's like a passenger arguing about the merits of having to turn off their electronic devices.

I know I, for one, don't give a crap..but thems the rules.

If you think the proceure is dumb, which it is, write a letter or do something else productive.

Giving TSA a hard time in front of the public just makes you look like a dick who doesn't know how to navigate a screening checkpoint.

If you didn't do your part for CrewPass then don't bitch. Reno was picky too...they had a problem with my zipper tie.

They actually should have stopped you as soon as you changed back into civvie clothes. We had TSA randomly inspecting people's overnight bags in LGA if someone walked out of the crew room not in uniform... throwing out the liquids.................................................................................................................................

Why is it so hard for some people to just follow the rules. Are they stupid? yes. But at least they're letting you take your ******************** through. So shut up and put your damn uniform on.

Interesting, the only time my company ID hasn't worked are airports where my airline dosen't have service.

It's when they do this that I nearly blow up. The whole ban on liquids was put in place because of an "alleged" threat using liquid explosives. So a crewmembers toothpaste immediately becomes volatlie the second their uniform comes off??

It's just bureaucracy and irrational hassling. Seriously, when was it decided that a crewmember was a threat? We wouldn't need a tube of TNToothpaste...we're at the controls AND we have a huge axe.

TSA= Totally Stupid Administration

As a former Corrections Officer, I know and have seen how and what inmates smuggled as contraband. Is the TSA really that naive thinking they will find all contraband and prevent anything from being brought past security? If so, they need to learn the same thing Corrections Officer are taught. Contraband will get through at much higher levels. You can not prevent that. But they are looking in the wrong places shaking down uniformed crewmembers, 80 year old men who proudly served this nation against the Nazis and the Japanese. Or little old ladies in wheelchairs, or making 5 year old autistic children selectees. When people bitch about selectees, the airlines say it's the TSA and the TSA says it's the airlines. So, searching in the wrong places will allow contraband to get through security checkpoints.
I remember when cigarette lighters were not allowed beyond the checkpoint, how many times was I approached by somebody looking for the smoking area, while holding a cigarette and a lighter in their hands beyond the checkpoints?
As for this having to be in uniform, what B.S. Alot of times I bring a cooler to help offset the high costs of eating out. If I have time after my trip I will change into regular clothing to commute home. One time I got stopped THE SECURITY A--HOLES and was told either get back into my uniform or forfeit the contents of my cooler since I was only allowed to take it through if I was in uniform.
Another joke, why is it some airports, if a crew is working a flight they can bypass security and at some airports we can't? OR some airports, one week we can bypass security and the next week, we can't. Anyone ever go through in CLT? IF you are a US Airways mainline employee, you get to bypass the Security Nazis at the checkpoints and the other crews can't. Or in PHL, I have seen rampers bypass security as well. And if you look close enough at them, there are several wearing ankle monitors, and trust me, I know what they look like, I used to attach them to an offender and program them. So, now you have a parolee bypassing security and working in the alleged security area. Oh, did I mention how preflighting an airplane in the mornings, we now have to pop open service doors and we are now doing the TSAs job? Because they are too inefficient hiring guys who look like Coolhio and Hells Angels wannabes?
I am done with my rant. Sorry if I offended anyone, but when it comes to the shullbit of the TSA, it sets me off.

Love my clip on!!!! Perfect knot every time....

Oh yeah, TSA sucks a$$!!!

CrewPass NOW!!!!!!!!!

So much for TSA consistency...

In RIC, and I guess all over, (according to a TSA-all star), we're supposed to remove our ID from the plastic cover so they can "feel" it to make sure it's authentic. Supposedly this is b/c some regional guy lost his and used a photocopy to sub for the real thing before someone finally caught him...anywho...I guess this is new procedure, but only about 2 people do it out of however many are there, and then it's on a selective basis. So much for consistency.

And has anyone ever noticed that it's either one thing or the other when it comes to crew bags going through the machine. Either they run it through 2 or 3 times or they hardly even look at the screen as it goes through. Same goes for showing the ID to the moron 'guarding' the metal detector. This morning in RDU she just waved me through didn't even look at the ID, she was laughing her ass off at one of her insolent co-worker joking around next to her.

CREW PASS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's food for thought we go to work bypass security at an outstation cause they let us through the back door. Get back the our base change clothes to commute home. Now haven't we contaminated the sterile area. We better shut the whole airport down now.

Keeping that spikey hair looking good in your shiny RJ is expensive.
