Does anybody know which kinds of black shoes don't have the steel shank? I get really tired of either taking my shoes off, or beeping when I go through the metal detector. I'm really tired of the F#$%ing TSA. If you're in just about any other country, and in uniform, they wave you through, even if you beep. I'd like to snag one of those wands (great party conversation piece). Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Deer Stags, $49 JC Penny. Black very dressy and very comfortable! Its funny some TSA suckers warn me to take them off but I say "I don't think so" .......

Eccos are also TSA proof.

A little more expensive than some other brands, but very well made, and super comfy.

idleclamp-

I went to the mall earlier today. In one of the shoe stores, I noticed tags on certain shoes label "airport friendly." It was either Payless or Shoe Depot. Shortly after that I nodded off while waiting for the lady, but it seems someone is working on it.

I bought a pair of Rockports at a department store, no problems. Comfortable, dressy enough, no beeping.

TSA's 'friendly' shoes?

I hadn't noticed whether the TSA's shoes were particularily friendly, and actually, I don't think that anyone with the TSA is overly friendly either.

But maybe, I haven't noticed their shoes so much because I'm so tall.

Ahh, a play on words, good one. Maybe I should've said, "I'm looking for a pair of shoes that don't make the metal detector beep from which I get the rubber glove treatment." Sorry, I'll be more precise next time. (There's always a comedian in the bunch!)

No such thing anymore as "airport friendly" shoes. The TSA makes people remove all shoes with a 1 inch heel/sole or greater. Bascially, all you can wear through the detectors now is flip flops.

I'll second Deer Stags. Never had to take them off and they are very comfortable. Sometimes, JCPenney will have a sale on these shoes. Paid $39 for mine. I think the model/type is "Times" and they have a plain toe.

Keep in mind, if you fly in a snow environment, you might want to look into "airport friendly" boots. Any low cut shoe will be uncomfortable if you have to preflight on a snow- and glycol-covered ramp.

Peace

Went to DSW..

They have Deer Stags, Rockports and Doc Marten's... Prices are good and most of the selection will not get you the "special" treatment by TSA...

For the comment about flip-flops.. I have seen in PIT TSA asking the ladies to remove thier flip-flop's.. Would not believe it if I did not see it...
