Can anyone chime in on the flying out of Richmond? Are there good lines or is it hard to fly as much as you want?

Also just an overall opinion on where this company may be going would help too. Thanks

There are good lines if you are senior enough to hold them in RIC. I was not senior enough- 1 1/2 years on reserve as a jet captain- and I wasn't sure where things were heading so I left recently. The lines in STL seamed to be better overall, but like anything at the airlines- you need seniority. I would suggest working for most other regionals if possible, but if that isn't an option you will at least work with a great bunch of guys and girls while you bide your time looking for something better. If you are hired there you can continue to look at other, better regionals also and leave once something better opens up for you- lots of FOs have done that over the last couple of years. Good luck.

As an FO is RIC more junior than 1 1/2 years on reserve?

Also, what about TSA did you not really like? I know that pay isn't the best and there is the typical BS of a regional but is it that bad to start seniority over somewhere else?

Any suggestions as to what other regionals?

We have 2 bases and too many hubs that are not domiciles!

Bases= 1 big SH!T HOLE in a F'ed up state and 1 small SH!T HOLE in another F'ed up state.

These are the least of our problems.

A regional is a regional. They've all got their problems. If it's the only offer on the table, take it. Bide your time, there will more oppurtunities that arise. That's the intent of the regions. They want you to stay four or five years and leave.

I'll work for the airline I'm at until I can find another airline job or hopeful corporate gig where I don't have to commute. QOL is a big issue for me with family and commuting is the worst part of it right now. When I look at the all the issues presented at the regional level, I have a hard time really getting angry over it. I could be getting shot at in Ash-can-i-stan and deployed away from my family for a year at a time but instead, I fly planes that are air conditioned and stay in nice hotels with hot water. I missed Iraq both times but I've spent plenty of time in the field with no showers, stinking to high heaven, sleeping on the ground for only a couple hours when you find time and walking more miles than I care to count. It just ain't that bad, plus it beats working for a living.

If you want to commute then you will want to be based in STL. The lines seem to be more commutable in STL. RIC is a pretty hard commute (2 leg commute from most places). The trips in RIC seem to start early on day 1 and end late on day 4. So most of the time you cannot commute on either end. There are some trips that are commutable on either the front end or the back end. There are very very few trips in RIC that are commutable on both ends. In STL there are way more trips that are commutable on both ends. Besides that you can do a search about TSA and see the other issues that are going on at TSA right now.
