Hi!

I ALWAYS travel in uniform now, regardless if I'm flying, jumpseating, or on a paid ticket. I can carry all the liquids I want, I get to go through the crew lines at airports and customs, and I don't have to stop at the ticket counter, unless I have to check luggage, I'm at one of the few airports that make me carry a pass through security, or I'm jumpseating out of a foreign country.

I travelled all over carrying 2 bottles of wine in my carry-ons a while back-no problems. The only time I use my plastic bags is to hand them out to PAX who don't know the rules and need help getting through security.

So, the uniform makes it easy. I know some guys who'd rather go in civvy clothes and put up with the crap. It's a (less and less) free country.

PS-The last trip I was on I had a paid coach ticket on NWA and was in uniform. The gate agent took my ticket and checked a bunch of stuff, and then apologized profusely for not being able to get me a seat in First Class!!! I don't know where that came from! I also got bumped (along with my plain-clothes pilot sim buddy) up to first class on AirTran while on a paid coach ticket, because I was in uniform.

Keep your current ID Cliff.

And whoever said something about about TSA agents' jobs gets them out of the trailerpark really offended me. They're called mobile homes, and some of my best memories of kissing my sister were in that double-wide.

TMI!!!!!

That's nasty right there.

When you wear a NJA crew ID you will get the Xtra special treatment, seems are management has emailed the TSA at most airports telling them to NOT let us be treated as Crew.

I went through CMH and they let me go there and they knew I was from your competitor. They just told me do not tell the NJ guys we did this.

That is really funny. Thanks for the info, and I didn't hear it from you.

Hate to break it to you but recently I was travelling in unifomr and was NOT allowed to carry on my liquids and gels. This was at a random airport and the questions TSA was asking me were specific and effective. Me thinks a memo went out recently to all TSA stations.

If you make it though, good deal. If not... be ready for plan B.

Looks like I need to start carrying a tsa bag again in case I get some fuel at Napa. Thanks for the heads up!

I airlined this week. I was in my NJ uniform. I showed the TSA my ticket and went thru without any problems. I had a big glass bottle of Vodka, that one of my pax left onboard. No problem. I have never used the plastic bag that everyone talks about. I have the biggest size toothpaste. No problems.

I got to the gate and had about an hour to kill. I took a closer look at my ticket and noticed I had the dreaded "SSSS". I went back to the security checkpoint and talked to the TSA supervisor. Showed him my ticket, and he took care of it for me. No strip search. No questions.

Results vary from station to station. Don't be surprised when you aren't given such a warm welcome one day.

99/100 times, no problem for me... except CMH.

This time, totally random and not expected, not warranted and not cool but... oh well. Glad I had time to go check my TSA bag.
