I heard a jacked up rumour that the TSA was going to require employees to accompany their buddy pass travellers on ALL international flights by 2006.

This rumour came from a CAL employee and said that was CAL's policy now, but I have not been able to confirm this. I know DL and UA do not require this.

Anyone?

So the TSA is now trying to get into the ticket biz too. I think requiring accompied pass travel is a company thing. I have heard another major will be doing the same thing and it is primarly to cut down on the non-rev tarvel between certain European gateways because there were several incidences where that have been more than 25 non-revs for a flight and they kept the agenst so busy with question that the agents had a tough time doing there job. We all know how some non-employees can get when traveling.

UAL implemented a travel ban during certain dates and between certain cities for their buddy pass travellers. This was due to apparently a large amount of non-revs who were let through security at LHR and then turned away at the gate, thus overwhelming the security and customs staff (is that not thier job, non-rev or not?). The only time an employee must accompany a companion is if they want to sit in First Class.

DL has advised their employees to not recommend buddy pass travel this summer, but there has been no requirement for the employee to accompany the companion. I do not see where this would help, nor is this at all realistic and would basically make the passes a useless benefit.

What is CAL's policy with regard's to requiring employees to accompany the companion using the buddy pass?

And why the hell would the TSA be dictating buddy pass policy?
