I'm planning on jumpseating to the inlaws for Christams does anyone know if I can check bags while jumpseating, specifically NW and Mesaba?

Yes you can. Does not mean you will make it on the same flight however, your bags may end up in your destination without you.

And of course on NWA your bags will be tagged with a big STANDBY label so all the rampers can see just how important your bags really are.

Hope this helps!

They only do that to try to get your bags on the same plane as you. When you check in at the ticket counter with your bags just tell them you would rather have the bags through. Then they dont put the standby tags on them.

Just go in uniform so you can get on the plane with all your stuff and gate check it. Thats what I always do if I have to pack for a long duration personal trip. Fill up your flight case with clothes for the added space (assuming you are not coming from work and can take out your Jepps and manuals)
