Hmm.... A Navy guy talkin' bout homo bars .... too easy

HA!!!

LMFAO!

PAT,

Man, at least you got the National Defense, those sexy wings, and a set of butter bars.....You're doing all right.

For what it's worth, I thought that ERAU Daytona has an impressive campus when I took a tour there last year. It's great to see an entire institution dedicated to flying. I got accepted to a Masters program there, but opted for the job that I have now (a good choice for me in retrospect). But I think it would have been cool to study there though.

...not to mention doing a little beach-going.

Hey Man you'll have fun on the boat. The best thing is you'll be flying the birds.

LOL on the AF.

Patmack,

I was there in the early 90's and P.McDuffy and crew would overbook the courses and then overbook the flight sched to pre-empt the NoShow morons. Didn't know if you were there back then, but if you wanted to finish your flight courses and get out of there for the summer, you flew every chance you got. And no I didn't rack up a bunch of XT's.

I do blame myself, I wouldn't do it again but live and learn. It was a great (and overpriced) lesson on aviation and how to look out for yourself.

Good folks back then, just some questionable folks on the second floor of the flt dept.

Glad you enjoyed your time.

The question you have to ask yourself is not if you'll ever get furloughed but when. So you spend a sh$tload of money to go to school to get an Aeronautical degree and a CFI. Then you have to build up a 1000 hrs to hopefully get hired by a Regional where you'll make a whole $17-23K your first year? That's awesome! Oh but it goes up to the $30's year 2 unless you get into a 70 seater at Comair then you can make a whopping $41k. Then you can sit there in the right seat for 4 or 5 years. And by the way you are usually gone from home 18 or so days out of the month, work weekends, holidays, reduced rest etc...The hot flight attendants are few and far between. Most are over 40 or gay. And you get to fly to the same airports over and over again. I almost forgot about the $1.65 an hour per diem! Not trying to sound bitter. Just telling it like it is. But hey, you can wear the uniform and tell everyone you're a pilot!

My advice, like a lot of others, go to a regular University and get a degree in something having nothing to do with aviation and broaden your horizons. If you really want to be a pilot, do all your flying at a local FBO and get your CFI as quickly as possible then you can instruct all through college. Then you can graduate with a degree, 1000+hrs. and get hired for that dream job making $17-23K! Good luck!

Students don't really have any say when they are scheduled now.

If you are having a busy week...too bad. You either show up, get noshowed, or have to go through an elaborate process of "grounding" yourself. Usually need a doctors note to do so...

Its really a mess.

I've never had a problem getting days off when I needed. All I have to do is ask my instructor for a few days off and he says no problem.;)

If the student has no say in the schedule, it's because the instructor is a jackass who doesn't listen/care.

Yes ive notinced so many things in the flight department that are just full of bull**CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**. Like my buddy doing a solo xc got weather due to a 5kt crosswind hahah. Too bad but 151 is a lot ive notced im up to like 6000 and i will solo in the next few days

Been there done that. The best move I ever made was go to a real school and fly on the side. A LOT CHEAPER!! Do as GV says, look at engineering, or do what I did, business with a minor in computers. Either way, you will always have a job if you lost a medical.

I couldn't get out of Riddle fast enough!!

Good luck

All ERAU wants to do is milk me for more money. I finished all my classes and just had to show them 1000 PIC. Now they are telling me I need to take more classes. Every class I took there, I diddn't learn anything that I diddn't already know. It was a waste of time and money.

When I get my 1000 PIC I'm going to send in my application for graduation and if they don't send me a degree...I am going to sue them.

Actually.. I think more partying went on at the "establishment" between us. Loved stealing our crap back from you guys... :)

Had to love the hourly rates... I do miss talking with all the "working girls".

Sure had a great time breaking into your house and stealing everything we could find ;) Also enjoyed a quick dip in your pool now and again. Good times were had by all!
