Unless the contract has changed, there used to be a 14 month seat lock (starting 2 weeks before hire date). I don't see how you can bid an equipment change before a year. The only thing available for a SJU ATR fo is a base change to MIA (not likely for a while).
While that is technically correct, it has always been at the company's discretion to be able to waive that seat lock. Historically they have waived it if you bid the jet. With jet deliveries coming +/- 4 per mo. and selling off the ATR 42s in SJU, they're going to need all the jet FOs they can get. You might have to finish IOE before you can start jet class, or even be on the Rock for a month, but you get the picture, if your bid is in, the company can approve it if they want.
Problem is all of the turbo prop guys are waiting until they can hold a line before they cross over. For a new hire that spells doom because they will continue to be stepped over, thus never really rising from the hell that is RSV.
