If you feel you must immerse yourself in the West Coast aviation experience (which is a little high speed for me), John Winthrop, Mark Foulkrod and David Bilson are all good to work for.

The aviation community is constantly changing.

For whatever it is worth, pilots can't leave AvJet fast enough. Yeah, they have lots of fancy airplanes and big names that fly in them....but that isn't enough to keep their employees happy. Lots of problems over there.

That's news to me. All the guys I know at AvJet are happy. I was there for a meeting with the CP and GM last week. Everything looked good. What are the "problems"?

Of course everything looked good, you met with management. You think they would give you the inside scoop on how everything is going in the "trenches"?

Hey, there are worse companies to work for than AvJet. A job is a job.....

Seriously, what are the problems? My friends there are pilots in the "trenches" and I haven't heard anything negative from them. One of them just got done telling me how happy he was at AvJet. Are the problems confined to just some of the fleet?

For the record. I'm not a management guy. I'm just a lowly PT91 pilot.

Not knowing English friend's quals are, here is a general recommendation.

AirGroup
AvJet
PrimeJet
Elite
Lacy (Not a fan of them, but at least they aren't shady)

LGB-Presidential Air (Former investor of PacificJet didn't like what was going on at PJ and started his own company)
SNA-Regency Air (New company, sounds like a good operation with 3 new Beechjets)
Pseudo- Two weeks ago you recommended AvJet. Now you're saying pilots can't leave fast enough. What gives?

Maybe some of the larger problems are confined to the fleet.

I was told that pilots have to fight tooth and nail to get their expense checks. Basically, accounting is told to delay the payment of expenses as long as possible....ie if you are off the total amount by a cent or forget to put a trip number on a receipt, or forget a receipt for a 5.00 breakfast meal, they kick back your expense report.

Several guys have left recently because they were promised an upgrade into larger aircraft, they find another job, turn in a resignation letter, at which time management says that if they stay, they will go into the next upgrade class. Those pilots stayed initially, never got the upgrade, got a clue and finally left.

No matter how hard you work and are respected there, your job is never secure (not much more different than the rest of us). I know two pilots who were told that if their airplane was ever sold, not to worry, they would be placed into another airplane. Their assigned airplane was sold, management called them in and told them about the sale and said, "Thanks for playing....here's your last paycheck." When both pilots asked about the original agreement of being placed into another airplane, management said they did everything possible to save their jobs, but times were tough. Must have not been too bad, they were hiring into other programs and training pilots.

I could keep typing, but I think you get the picture. Maybe you will have better luck than the people I knew that worked there.

Compared to Pacific Jet, yes, AvJet would be the better choice.

....and within the last two weeks, I have heard more of the same about AvJet, so that's why I shedding light to that at this time.

Of course, being in aviation, it's just all rumors and speculation.

If you are seriously looking at AvJet, I figured you would want to hear it all in order to be prepared.

Man, that's a bummer for those pilots. Very interesting. I'd never heard that.

I'm not trying to get a job with them. This PT91 thing has grown on me: Better pay, stable company, excellent CP and being home every night (and most days) is hard to beat.

There are some pilots on this board looking for work and I've recommended AvJet (and a few others) via PM, phone and e-mail. I just want to make sure I've got the whole picture.
