Which ACMI companies provide accomodation AND training pay during initial and IOE? I've searched this but have only come up with info on Kalitta. Wondering bout SA, Gemini, ATI or North American on the pax charter side.

I know it sounds like a short-sighted way of choosing who to apply with- but I've got mouths to feed back home. BTW- they're used to me being gone - I just need to send a check home now and then. Thanx.

Short sighted my @ss! Yeah your 100% correct some people are adults and have cars, homes, kids, etc etc etc. Wasnt like this in the old days. Sad thing is when some poor SOB lives off his credit cards to get through the first year to be laid off soon there after.

I bought dinner for a guy last summer who didn't have enough money to make it from payday to payday while in training for an ACMI carrier. His first paycheck was 2 days late hence the reason why he had no money. Another guy in the same class quit because of not getting paid on time and got stiffed with the hotel bill (The company was suppose to pay this).

Sad, indeed. It's no suprise then that some guys are going overseas to fly in parts of Asia, UAE, ect. (supposedly 'third world countries'): getting paid decently and treated with a modicum of respect from day one.

Right about the old days. My pop flew for Saturn back in the 70s, which wasn't a "major airline" per se, but was good enough for us to be well into the middle class. I still remember the bright red '71 Barracuda he bought brand new- on copilots' pay.

Any idea where that car is now? Saturn had a great legacy. I've had the privilege to work with a few of their alumni and have the greatest respect for them.

Dutch - I'll be the guinea pig and aks ya - with what company was your dinner recipient in training?

DOH indeed! Perhaps the worst build quality of the era, yet look at what they've become.

Thanks for the PM, dutch.

Evergreen pays training pay, perdiem, a hotel room and a few rental vehicles for the class to get around..our class went to the shore for the weekends....this all allows you to save money for when you get furloughed.
