It's true that pro golfers do incredible things, just like all the great hockey, baseball, football... stars (well sometimes they may do incredible things). But the sports are still covered on tv with nothing but interruptions and commercials, lack of cadence. This is where Fox Sports World saves the day with the English Premier League. 2 hours of tv with no commercials except during half time. No time outs. No idiotic shenanigans in the end zone. No cheap shot punches from behind. etc. A game with discipline, endurance, and teamwork. Of course one thing is that their jerseys are covered with logos which will likely work its way into football, baseball, and other american sports.

Hockey, Soccer, Downhill Ski racing and Formula One.

Oh yeah, and Beer pong!

Wow! We made it to the second page of posts before religion popped up. BTW I think Jesus would play too.

Don't forget about Cricket.

I don't really understand what's going on or how it's played. But, it looks neat and the uniforms are cool.

Hey, that's kinda similar to my job as a copilot.

Yeah along with the rest of the heterosexual men in the USA. You should join us.

Play the game, not the camera

I'm a football fan. I have no favorite team, no favorite palyer. I watch defense, specifially linebackers. I watch there reads and admire their athletic ability. If the score at the end of a game is 7 to 3, then it was a great defensive game for me.

If I were king, I would make a few changes. First rule, your helmet never comes off while on the field, unless it gets knocked off - no running into the end zone, pulling off your hat and looking for a camera. I loved Romo a few years ago when he spit in the face of an opponent. He took a lot of heat over that because the other guy happened to be black. Romo didn't see color, he just saw a guy in his face flappin his gums. He didn't hit him, he didn't shove him away, he just sat there letting the other guy scream at him nose to nose while he hawked up a loogy.

NHL - no way. I would never waste my time watching. These guys don't play a true game, they have stansformed their sport into a hybrid of the WWF. If I wanted to see a fight I would watch boxing. You know the old saying, I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.

College and pro football both have there share of show boat problems, but the game can be enjoyable if look for the men who play with passion and don't spend there time looking for a money camera shot.

That's ridiculous. It's obvious you've never watched a hockey game. I challenge you to go to nhl.com, click on scores, and then on off.scoresheet. Count the number of games with fights. I did the last 3 days, here's the count: Last night (Monday) there was 1 fight in 7 games. Sunday, 2 in 5 games, and Saturday, 6 in 12 games. Only in one of those games was there more than one fight. By my calculations, only 1/3 of the games in the last three days contained a fight. It's not like everyone on the ice is looking to drop the gloves and pound on someone's head. Most players would rather not. And the actions of the Vancouver player a couple of weeks ago is definiely not the norm in the NHL.

How is it not a true game? It's the same concept as basketball. It's just not as easy to score, and you can't call a timeout every 10 seconds. Also, they don't have to have a group hug after each play and decide which direction they're going to run for 5 seconds and all fall down.

In my opinion, those who bash hockey haven't taken the time to understand the game (usually stating "there's too many lines", but they can tell you how many yards every penalty in the NFL is), or lack the mental capacity to follow it. Being as you're smart enough to be a Guppy driver, I'm sure you have plenty of mental capacity. Watch a game or two and forget about the fighting stereotype, you'll probably change your mind.

Until football players gain some respect for each other, for the game they play, and for the fans, I'm not going to be as set on it as I am hockey.

Yeah, in football there are good players who try their best, but it's the few Randy Moss's in the game that make everyone look bad. Almost everyone has a criminal record who plays the game. In hockey, moreso than in football, you have guys who stick with their team and make an honest effort. I'm not saying that this is true 100% of the time, but MOST of the time that seems to be the case.

One thing that would help Pro-Football is to get rid of the spotters, and do away with the headsets. Make the coach a coach again instead of a figure head. Let the game be played on the field rather than a skybox view point. With so many assistants, the Head Coach can only watch, with an occasional input by him as the game is played out.
