The AF or AFRES or ANG could care less if you have 100 hrs or 10,000 hrs when it comes to getting in. Age is a big requirement, I think not older than 27.5 when you start pilot training, but that has been waived to the low 30s in the recent past. As for the ANG or AFRES, knowing somebody helps a lot, just like anywhere else. Previous flight experience doesn't hurt, but the military trains and operates quite a bit different (not better or worse, just different), than our civilian counter parts. There are some tests to take (AFOQT) and officer school, OTS (AFRES) or AMS (ANG). You must have a four-year degree in something. There are some good opportunities out there right now to get into the AFRES and ANG in some real nice equipment(C-17, C-38, C-40).
Regards,
The C-38A is the Model 1125 Astra SPX, which is now G200 designated I think. The C-40 is the AF version of the Boeing BBJ. They are both flown by the 201st Airlift Squadron (ANG) at Andrews AFB, MD. As for AFRES, they have a C-21 unit (Lear 35s) at Peterson AFB, CO.
Good Luck,
