I have been considering added a type rating of some sort to my cert. i figure it would be fun to do and to have it on my resume. please no flames, i just would like some opinions of what would be most valuable. also would like to know what would be the best place to go. (flightsafety, simcom, etc..)
thanks.

If you're going to get one go with the CE-500 or Learjet type. Both cover a bunch of different models so they would probably be the most useful.

Those places are pricey. FlightSafety charges ~$12,000 for a basic Citation (CE-500) type. About the cheapest type to get is the B737. Banner from Flight Training International is displayed at the top of this board. Higher Power's 737 course runs ~$7,400. Flight Crew Systems near San Diego, CA has a CE-500 class costing ~$5,000.

Having a type without at least 100 hrs of flight time doesn't have a lot of value in today's tight market. Most ads require several hundred hours in type with a current 8410.

You will have no trouble finding training outfits willing to trade cash for a type rating. Do your research to avoid the questionable ones.

Good luck,
