a few questions about the application process

-Those of you hired as F/O's what was your time

-How long until they responded to the resume

-Anbody in touch with HR know how many will be hired till the end of the year?

Thanks, sounds like a great company!

OK...the last published times I've seen are 1000 and 250 but some of the newer folks online started with less than 1000 tt but were typed in the CRJ in the CAE program. Previous 121 or 135 time is a big plus. Some new pilots have come over from ACA and were already current in the CRJ. From what I can see, the newer pilots come from a wide variety of ages and flying backgrounds. The interview process is designed to find out if you can fly and also fit in to the company culture which is relatively friendly compared to many other places. I'm surprised we haven't had more pilots come over from ACA. You'd think with all the furloughs that there would be more interest. Maybe they are getting either better or more stable jobs.

I just visited with Wendy, the flight recruiter lady this morning and Barb, in ER right after. Everything that WhiteCloud said is true. Add on that letters from an internal pilot will also get you an interview below 1000 if you have more than 250 multi. Hiring will continue only interupted by the possibility of lack of sims due to 146 transition training. Barb has been taking at least 5 resignations (mostly captains moving on to other airlines) a week. 29 so far this month alone. Bases have yet to be officially announced, and no word on any growth as of yet. I don't think they want to get tied into any more planes till U gets out of BK. Hope this helps

Is Christy not involved with the hiring picture for pilots any more? I heard stories that the Flight Dept. people weren't too happy with her.

If anyone reading this with under 1000tt doesn't see this as THE OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME, then you deserve to struggle for a long time!

Hi!

Are they closing ATW for sure? It sounds like they know they're dumping the -146, and therefore ATW. Will the company HQ stay at ATW?

Yup, closed by Oct/Nov of this year and down to 4 146's out of DEN for the mountain flying. They will all be done by Apr/May 06.

HQ remains in ATW.

Here ya go

The info there is mostly good but some of it is a little dated. If you have any questions feel free to post them here as there are many of us Airwis types that frequent these boards. We will try to help you out. Christy no longer works in Pilot Recruiting, Wendy Veith is who you want to talk to. Good luck.

I agree. If interested get together with a CRJ manual and read up on 121 ahead of time. It's easy to fall behind if you come in cold with no previous 121 or 135 experience.

There is no reason to read up on the CRJ if you're not flying one at your current job. If you're not flying 121 or 135 don't worry about those regs. They will want you to know the acft you're flying and the regs the you're flying under.

We are talking about a class of 20 in and june and 20 in july. The last class they couldn't even fill. If you are under 1000 hours still send you stuff, there is a good chace you'll get a call. It sounds bad, but right now they need bodies in class.

AWAC is a good place to work. We still don't know where our bases will be, but it looks like PHL and DCA plus one or two more. Dont count on any new planes. So upgrade will be a LONG time.

Hell, at the rate we're losing guys right now, upgrade will be fairly quick even without growth. Guys who've been here just over a year are already more than half way up the F/O side of the seniority list.

What??

i have been at awac a year and i am still on reserve, and cant even get the schedule i want on reserve.....FO's here a year are NOT half way up the FO list.

awesome guys, sounds just awesome. I have 1036/240 multi haha right on the bubble, how long do you think i will get a call back assuming i get one after i send in the ressie

so close yet so far away....

I'm sitting on 975TT/400ME and have not heard back..... Maybe they don't just "need bodies in class"..... I certainly would like to think that there is a higher standard for recruitment at one of the few airlines I am hopeful of working for.

That's correct for the interview. Once hired some CRJ and 121 reading is good prep for ground school.
