to get PVT LIC part 61 how many hours do

....also depends upon how intensive your training is and WHERE your training is.

It's very difficult to imagine anyone doing their PVT in 40 hours in a busy airspace like that around NYC or down in SoCal, since you spend so much time simply taxiiing and waiting for clearance to get back into your "home" airport... Not to mention clearing the controlled airspace to get into the practice area to do your maneuvers, or flying over to an uncontrolled field to do your touch-and-goes. I'd say a weekend-warrior type student in these areas would be closer to 80, while 60 would apply for someone who's training in a less-congested area.

Of course it also helps if you fly a few times a week as opposed to the more typical "weekends only" type regime.
 
A DE told me that the national average for part 61 Pvt pilots on the day of their checkride is about 65 hours.
